NWCFL Premier Division

Barnoldswick Town 1-2 Runcorn Town

Barnoldswick Town manager Endrit Shehu, "Very proud of my players today and pleased with the performance. Fully dominated the game especially the second half. The boys gave everything for 90 minutes and we were unlucky not to get something.

"We move again onto Wednesday, take the positives and try to get a result."

Runcorn Town manager Paul McManus, "An extremely good ugly win today. It was the longest away trip for the boys today on a typical pitch for the winter in our league. Barnoldswick done very well to get the game on and it’s always a hard place certainly for us to visit so am extremely happy to come away with the 3 points.

"Another victory and keeps us moving in the right direction which is the most pleasing aspect of the result. As the winter months are always hard in our league with pitches the lads showed today we can win ugly and am happy with the togetherness of the boys, the chemistry and balance of the squad are pleasing also."

Ashton Athletic 3-3 Whitchurch Alport

Ashton Athletic manager Dougie Pitts, "Disappointed doesn't even come close today. The lads have been fantastic, worked hard and shown what a fantastic footballing side we are. I'm sure Whitchurch would agree we have totally dominated the game and should be celebrating a win.

"To concede a 95th-minute goal scored by their 'keeper is a tough one to take. Credit to Alport as they haven't laid down, but individual errors have once again cost us. We can't dwell on it too much and we just need to believe that performances like that will get us more wins than defeats.

"There will be many more highs and lows before the season is finished and we quickly move on to the next big game against the league leaders."

Burscough 0-2 1874 Northwich

Burscough manager Nick Matthews, "I thought the lads worked hard today against a very good 1874 team. Disappointed with both goals as we switched off. If you switch off against sides with the quality of 1874 you get punished.

"We had a game plan, but we conceded a soft goal and then we had to change the way we set up earlier than we wanted. 1874 have been drilling sides all season, so we wanted to keep tight all over the park. We were disappointed in our performance last week and today the lads proved that they have a lot more fight than shown the previous week."

1874 Northwich manager Wayne Goodison, "A difficult game that we are happy to come away with the three points from. I thought we controlled the game well and but for the Burscough keeper making three outstanding saves, we could have made the game a bit more comfortable.

"Really good performance levels from every one of our players though and I felt we fully deserved the win."

Skelmersdale United 2-4 Northwich Victoria

Skelmersdale United manager Paul McNally, "Typical game of two half’s today. First half we performed to a good standard with a high tempo providing a platform to build on and when we score two goals and possibly could have had more it was an opportunity to get all three points.

"Second half we just never got started and it’s all credit to Northwich Vics who showed all their class and qualities when it mattered - they forced us on the back foot and we couldn’t hold on to take anything from a good winning position. Overall we showed that we have the ability to compete and are making progress but I am disappointed we couldn’t see the game out when 2-0 up.

"We move forward this week and build on the positives of our first half and start looking to get some points on board in the coming weeks."

Northwich Victoria manager Steve Wilkes, "Really pleased with the second half performance obviously but didn't think we deserve to be 2-0, however disappointed with the goals we conceded.

"The spirit and character of the players were there for all to see, I didn't have to say much at half time as the players took it on themselves to get them out of the predicament they created. Big game for us Wednesday now as we need to win back to back league games."

Winsford United 0-2 Charnock Richard

Winsford United manager Lee Duckworth, "No complaints, Charnock deserved it. They wanted it more. We have to stop being so naive and realise you can't give teams a head start. We look to Wednesday now to put it right."

Charnock Richard manager Ryan Donnellan, "Today was a potential banana skin for us. Winsford has done well of late so it was going to be a test for us. We dominated throughout the game and it could have been 3 or 4. I was very pleased with the result and how we conducted ourselves. It was a good solid team performance on a poor surface."

Litherland REMYCA 0-2 Avro

Litherland REMYCA manager Phil Stafford, "Thought we were really poor today. Lads let themselves down after two good results. Take nothing away from Avro, they deserved the win but we are a better side than we showed today.

"We need to regroup and prepare for Wednesday now."

Squires Gate 0-3 Rylands

Squires Gate manager Luke Evans, "A spirited performance from my boys today. Hard work and effort can't be faulted but going down to ten men after one minute changed the game completely and made it extremely tough. We struggled to adapt to the change in play that was needed but special mention has to go to Dean Ing who despite an uphill battle kept going until the last trying to find our way in.

"We go again Saturday but we believe in ourselves and we are close to finding the formula."

Rylands manager David McNabb, "A really tough game against a good Squires Gate side who battled well and worked very hard It was a bit of a scrappy game particularly in the first half but we played well in spells and created some good chances.
"A good battling performance overall and a fully deserved three points."
Irlam 1-0 Congleton Town

Irlam manager Michael Dodd, "I was made up to get the three points today. Congleton is always a tough opponent and they were dangerous right until the end today. I do feel that on the balance of play we deserved to win the game; it was important to bounce back quickly after midweek and we were back to our usual selves on and off the ball.

"We felt that a moment of quality would probably decide the game and we got that from Jordan Southworth; a goal worthy of winning any game. We could have added to it after that, but Congleton made it nervy in added time with a few goalmouth scrambles. All in all, a good day at the office."

NWCFL First Division North
Steeton 2-1 Golcar United

Steeton manager Roy Mason, "I thought we were superb today. It’s been a really tough week for us and I had to make changes following Tuesday’s game and that meant making six new faces come into the starting XI today from Tuesday.

"We should have been ahead at the break after missing some good chances but in fairness, Golcar had a couple as well. Once we got the first goal we settled down, but losing Steve Pearson was a huge blow and when Golcar levelled they had the ascendancy, but we showed great character to grab a late winner, which I felt we deserved.

"It was nice to catch up with Ash Connor and the Golcar lads as they are enjoying a good first season and they have some good players who will ensure the have a successful season at this level."

Bacup Borough 5-1 Chadderton

Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters, "This has been an extremely good week for us, the Chadderton game was our third game in six days, two of those games have been on very heavy pitches, but still, the lads have managed to play football and entertain. We have taken seven points from a possible nine points, we have scored 13 goals, with seven against, and the seven against I am not entirely happy with but we know what we have to do to improve this.

"The boys have been a credit to themselves and the badge, no doubt people will be talking about Matty Bryan scoring four goals and rightly so. Whilst the finishes on the night were clinical, without the quality supply coming from his teammates, he does not get those goals, so credit also to his providers. Another pleasing statistic being whilst in this game Matty gets four, in our midweek game, on that occasion, it was Joel with the hat trick, with other players like Alex Mellor, and Kyle Siddall chipping in, which is healthy and bodes well going forward as we are not reliant upon just Matty to score.

"Others are themselves making a decent contribution, I can't praise the boys enough for their hard work, through their hard work has come to their just reward with those seven out of nine points."

Chadderton manager David Fish, "Friday's result and performance were a huge disappointment, especially after recent good performances against Lower Breck and Ashton Town. That result effectively leaves us 10 points off a promotion place and makes it highly improbable that we will be in contention come April.

"The scoreline suggests we were completely outplayed and I do think that for the final 25 minutes at least we looked like we'd given up and I expect much more from the players. Now I've had time to reflect I don't think we were as bad as the scoreline suggests for the first hour or so and in that time had around twice as many good opportunities as Bacup.

"The difference was our inability to test their keeper enough and the quality of finishing from Alex Mellor and Matty Bryan. All credit to Bacup though, at 3-1 they showed good game management, slowed things down, worked their socks off and took advantage when they isolated our defenders.

"The other big negative from the night is the injury to Jack Turnbull, who was standing in at left-back due to injuries to the four left-backs in our squad. Picking a back four is hard at the moment and I can't imagine there'll be a queue for the number three shirt."

AFC Blackpool 3-1 Shelley

AFC Blackpool manager Martin Barid, "Enjoyed the win yesterday but disappointed in conceding the clean sheet as it was totally against the run of play. First half we moved the ball around in phases of play that was very enjoyable to watch although we should have been out of sight at half time the lads kept playing and asking questions which were pleasing.

"We have a massive week ahead of us and we want to start being more ruthless in games. Once this happens we will start really pushing on but we have to stay grounded as we have so much more to come it’s about being consistent in everything we do whether that’s training during the week or sticking by the principles set out before each game. Credit to the lads yesterday they were brilliant and deserve every praise for the style of play they took to Shelley.

"We look forward to Tuesday training where we will work on keeping that clean sheet."

Prestwich Heys 0-3 Daisy Hill

Daisy Hill manager Brian Hart, "It was a great end to a very hectic week. We lost six players due to injuries and two were ill which tested our squad but we had good tempo and use of the ball and caused problems for their defence.

"They're a good outfit and it needed an excellent team performance from the start to give us a chance. Which is what we got. Players responded well and kept to the game plan. Chalk and cheese from the games against Nelson and Lower Breck.

"Back to our competitive best."

Garstang 2-5 AFC Darwen

AFC Darwen manager Kenny Langford, "We've been working hard to get results and it came for us today. Full credit to Garstang for giving us a game but we had a bit too much for them in the end.

"I'm really pleased with the lad's performance today and we needed the points. We played some good football and looking forward to taking it into the next game."

NWCFL First Division South

Eccleshall 2-0 Abbey Hulton United

Eccleshall manager Kyle Adams, "It's a massive three points in a local derby but we had to really grind that out today. We know Abbey has been on a poor run but that kind of masks what a difficult side they are to play against. In truth, either side could've won it in a game that lacked any real quality in the final third, but the lads kept plugging away and stuck at the task to snatch it at the end.

"I'm chuffed for Ryan and Louis to get the goals as they've worked hard lately with nothing to really show for it but that'll give them a bit of a boost. At the end of the day, it's more points on the board. We've just got to keep picking up those points and see where we are come Christmas time."

Abbey Hulton United manager Russell Leadbetter, "Another great performance from us. I think we deserved at least a point out of the game, we weren't ever in any danger of conceding until the last 10 minutes when Eccleshall took their chance.

"But that's the difference, they are where they are because they take their chances, that was the difference today, we had 3/4 chances that we should have scored. But we're getting there and it's all positive. It is a massive week ahead of us now."

New Mills 1-3 Vauxhall Motors
New Mills manager David Birch, "The lads did well against a good side! We more than matched Vauxhall! We had good chances and was arguably the better side but two pieces of quality changed the game.

"They took their chances we didn't and that's what the better teams do so fair play to Vauxhall. If we keep that performance level up we will win more than we lose."

Vauxhall Motors manager Mick McGraa, "Another tough and physical game we started off very well and should have been a couple of goals up but we missed good chance fair play to New Mills they grew in the game and took the lead but we took back control and deservedly equalised through cox.

"Second half there wasn't much in the game very scrappy but a moment of magic from Burkey made it 2-1 then we controlled the game and scored once more through Cox again. Overall, we deserved the win.

"New Mills won't be down the bottom for much longer good side. That is 12 wins in a row great run we're on!"
