Saturday was a busy day with a record 12 teams getting through to the Third Round of the Isuzu FA Vase. We catch up with some managers to get their thoughts on the games.

LONGRIDGE TOWN MANAGER LEE ASHCROFT AFTER HIS SIDE WON ON PENALTIES AT NEWCASTLE BENFIELD

"It is an unbelievable achievement to go up to the North East and return with a win and a place in the next round. It was a game that we had to defend well throughout as they were a constant threat. In the first half they were the better side but we changed our shape for the second half and were miles better.

"Unfortunately we went a goal behind but in the last minute my star man Scotty Harries produced a lovely touch and finish. Then on to penalties and our keeper James Aspinall was unbelievable, saving three penalties in the shootout to put us through. It was a very good trip home on the coach! #uptheridge".

BROCTON MANAGER ALEX CURTIS AFTER HIS SIDES NARROW VICTORY OVER FORMER NWCFL SIDE WHITCHURCH ALPORT

"I am delighted with the 1-0 win against Whitchurch. They were a well organised side and you could see they had the quality of a team from the league above. I felt that we were good value for the victory and on another day if we’d have taken our chances it could have been more comfortable.

"The players work rate and desire was excellent. I couldn’t be more pleased for a great group of players. Being in the Third Round is a fantastic achievement for the club and is a testament to the hard work of the players, coaches and volunteers. I know everyone connected with the club is excited to see the draw and we look forward to the next round".

ABBEY HEY MANAGER TERRY HINCKS AFTER HIS SIDE WON 3-0 AT THACKLEY

"Contradictory to Thackley's match report on their website we were excellent on Saturday and most defiantly were worthy of the win against a very strong and experienced side. I am really proud of the group as they showed once again their hunger and desire to improve and try to win games.

"We are into the Third Round of the Vase for the second season in a row. Last season we went on to the Fifth Round so it would be good to try and equal that this time around".

WEST DIDSBURY & CHORLTON MANAGER CHRIS ROWLEY AFTER OVERCOMING BACUP BOROUGH ON PENALTIES

"Saturday's win was a great achievement for the club, reaching the Third Round of the FA Vase for the very first time. The lads put in a great effort in coming from behind to win the game. The surface was definitely a leveller on the pitch, but when you have the amazing fans that travel in the numbers that we do and out number the home support 4 to 1, it only lifts the players even more to succeed.

"Our current run of form going into the game hadn’t been great compared to our opponents, having just won North Division Team of the month. We are excited about who we will get in the next round, and hopefully use this win as a springboard to some better results over our next run of games".

DARWEN FC MANAGER KENNY LANGTON AFTER HIS SIDES 3-0 WIN OVER THORNABY

"At the club we are elated with our performance in the Vase this season and we can hope to take that into the league. We've beaten higher opposition in the last three Vase ties and I couldn't be more prouder of the team.

"As you would expect from a side from the North East, Thornaby were tough opposition and we showed great character to dig in and ensure a historic result. It's the first time the club have reached this stage of the competition and we eagerly look forward to the game in the next round!"

CHEADLE TOWN MANAGER PAUL MARSHALL AFTER HIS SIDES 3-0 WIN AT BRIGG TOWN

"It was a great day for the club and everyone involved. We knew that it was going to be tough against a side that has already beaten Runcorn Town and New Mills in the Vase so far. We brought a coach full down and our lads didn’t disappoint on the day, running out worthy winners.

"It was a perfect performance on the day and the lads did everyone proud. That's three successive wins without conceding, and we need to take that performance into some tough league and cup fixtures we have coming up”.

HOLKER OLD BOYS MANAGER KEVIN WATKIN AFTER HIS SIDES WIN AGAINST PREMIER DIVISION SIDE FC ISLE OF MAN

"I think overall we deserved the win against FC Isle of Man. We knew we had to defend well and we took our chances when we had them, and I think we managed the game quite well.

"Its a nice achievement for the lads to equal the clubs previous best ever run in the Vase, and also good to keep our run of good form going. That's four wins now, and we need to look to make it six as we head into Tuesday/Saturday games against Darwen FC".
