Saturday saw 30 games across the Premier Division, First Division North and First Division South. We caught up with several NWCFL Managers after the results were in to give their thoughts on the games.

 Premier Division

WEST DIDSBURY & CHORLTON MANAGER CHRIS ROWLEY ON HIS SIDES 5-2 WIN OVER BARNOLDSWICK TOWN

"Having missed the start of the season, it was great for me to be back at Brookburn Road yesterday and the performance was out of the top drawer. We had to make to some changes but the lads stepped up in very hot conditions. The way we played didn’t allow Barnoldswick many clear opportunities, and as a group we were disappointed that in our opinion we gifted them two goals.

"As a team we pride ourselves on being solid at the back but yesterday credit had to go to our forward line. They were incredible. We move on now to another tough week of fixtures but we will prepare and we will be up for the challenge."

PRESTWICH HEYS MANAGER LEE O'BRIEN ON HIS SIDES 4-1 WIN AT HOME TO CHARNOCK RICHARD

"I was really pleased with the result yesterday, but more so the performance, We were dominant throughout the game against a seasoned Charnock Richard team.

"We still have things to improve upon with the squad, but it was nice to see progression in our consistency levels and in what we are trying to achieve."

NORTHWICH VICTORIA MANAGER STEVE WILKES ON HIS SIDES 3-1 WIN AT PREVIOUSLY UNBEATEN AFC LIVERPOOL

"I was really pleased with the performance on such a hot day for both teams. We knew going to a team at the top of the table, albeit only three games into the season, would be tough as they’d just put six goals past Burscough in midweek and were unbeaten.

"We’ve brought a few new players to the club and they’re still settling in. We need to keep the level of performance up we’ve shown today, week in, week out".

VAUXHALL MANAGER MICK McGRAA ON HIS SIDES 2-0 WIN AT IRLAM

"It was a great performance today from my lads in the heat. We started the game on the front foot and before the 1st water break we had two great chances to take the lead but our finishing let us down. The break in play killed the game and we couldn’t get going but still give Irlam nothing in the way of chances.

"The second half was similar as we were dominant and always looked a threat and on 60 minutes we made it 1-0 with a great team move. We stepped it up again and we scored again on 75 minutes through Lewis Buckley with a composed finish. We managed the rest of the game to give us another well earned three points and clean sheet".

 First Division North

HOLKER OLD BOYS MANAGER KEVIN WATKIN ON HIS SIDES FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON AGAINST GARSTANG

"We went into the game knowing we needed to take advantage of our first home game of the season and put points on the board on the back of two frustrating defeats where we had created chances and scored goals but conceded too many goals through mistakes.

"After reflection on the two results and a goods weeks training we decided to make a few changes and we started very well and took control of the game early. I felt overall was quite a commanding performance, having a lot of the ball and creating some good chances and not giving a lot away. We showed more organisation and authority in our defensive side of the game too and getting the clean sheet was very pleasing."

EUXTON VILLA MANAGER MATTY ATHERTON ON HIS SIDES 3-1 WIN AT SOUTH LIVERPOOL

"It was a tough day for everyone involved in the game yesterday with the weather being so hot! We spoke beforehand as a team about taking the game in isolation, four quarters and to start fast as we knew it would be hard to chase a game in that heat.

"I can’t fault the lads again- outstanding effort from the whole squad and backroom staff and we couldn’t be happier to have won all three of our games so far in the league. We look forward to getting a few games at home over the next few weekends!"

AFC BLACKPOOL MANAGER MARTIN BAIRD ON HIS SIDES 3-0 WIN OVER ASHTON TOWN

"Who doesn’t enjoy a clean sheet Saturday? I thought the lads were brilliant when you take into consideration the heat, the fact we had ten players missing and three lads involved who haven’t even trained with the boys before the game.

"We rode our luck a little with the penalty miss Ashton had at 2-0 but Danny was superb on the rebound and was brilliant again. We’ve started OK but we just want to get through this month and get everyone back for September where we can start getting a solid continuity with the team selections but that’s non league so we will prepare the best we can for the remaining games this month and give no excuses.

"Overall I’m delighted for them boys and they have deserved the three points, but more importantly clean sheets are massive at any level especially with the fire power we have as we know we will get goals.

PILKINGTON MANAGER STEPHEN PALFREY ON ANOTHER SUPERB WIN, 6-1 AT ATHERTON LR

"It was a very tough day where understandably the referee was allowing water breaks every 15 minutes. This made the game very scrappy and we struggled to find our normal rhythm for large parts of the game.

"In the end though the quality of our squad shone through as we put away our chances and ran out convincing winners on the day. We go again next week in what’s turning out to be a big game given the start of both teams.

BACUP BOROUGH MANAGER BRENT PETERS AFTER HIS SIDES THRILLING 4-3 WIN OVER NELSON

"On what was one of the hottest days of the year, I was soon very much hot under the collor seeing us very quickly going 3-1 down to our local rivals Nelson and well before half time. In all my time of locking horns with Nelson, there as never been an easy game between the two sides, and this was no exception with Nelson looking good value for their lead.

"It called for action from the bench where by a tweak in formation contributed in us getting back in the game, and we were all square at 3-3 at half time. This was a great comeback from the boys, working terrifically hard in testing conditions.

"Every credit to all, none more than Louis Byrne with a brace which included a wonder goal executed from a good 45yard out when he lobbed their keeper with sheer presission. A goal from Jack Hayward and the winning free kick from Michael Gervin to get us our first 3 points of the season".

CHADDERTON JOINT MANAGER BEN GREENIDGE AFTER HIS SIDES COMEBACK 2-1 WIN AT RUNCORN TOWN

"Playing in that heat was a test in itself, so fair play to both teams getting through it! We wasn’t as lively as our previous three outings, and when we fell behind just after the first water break, we knew it was going to be difficult to get anything out of the game. Fortunately we got a penalty just before half time, which captain Jordan Schofield put away!

"The second half we managed to control the game a little better, and used all our substitutes wisely. We deservedly took the lead on the hour, with a text book Arron Scholes strike. It was a tough game, one we could easily have dropped points in, but when you’re in a bit of form and confident, things tend to go your way so we’ll take it and move onto the next game!"

First Division South

ABBEY HULTON MANAGER RUSSELL LEADBETTER AS HIS SIDE BEAT FOLEY MEIR 7-1

"It was a great all round performance yesterday. A game where we took our chances and in all honesty it could have been more. I don’t really think we did anything different than normal other than take our chances which we’ve struggled to do since pre season.

"Hopefully this win today can kick start a little bit of a run for us now although we have a really tough fixture Tuesday vs Wythenshaw Amateurs."

CONNOR COURTNEY SPEAKING ON ELLESMERE RANGERS' 3-0 WIN AT STOCKPORT GEORGIANS

"Unfortunately I missed the game due to a family holiday so Andy Turner took charge of the game yesterday. Having spoken to Andy, the lads were brilliant yesterday all over the pitch. Despite the heat they pressed from the front and created a lot of chances, scored some good goals, and its equally as pleasing to register yet another clean sheet.

"We have started the season well, but we all know how quick football can change. It’s important we keep the consistency as every game is a tough one in this division. Myself and Andy cant fault the lads over the past five games (including the cup) and the desire has been spot on."

CHEADLE TOWN MANAGER PAUL MARSHALL ON HIS SIDES 5-2 WIN AT STAFFORD TOWN

"I thought it was a great reaction from the lads after not being at the races on Tuesday night in our home game with Stockport Town. We created plenty of chances and the lads put a great shift in on what was a really hot day.

"I thought we controlled majority of the game. It was maybe a little disappointing conceding two but our attacking threat was constant throughout and we created and scored some really good goals. Hopefully we can produce the same type of performance in our game coming up on Tuesday at home to Ellesmere and build some consistency".

STOCKPORT TOWN MANAGER PAUL TURNBULL AFTER HIS SIDE'S 3-0 AWAY WIN AT CAMMELL LAIRD 1907

"The first half was scrappy and in all honesty we were poor despite going in a goal ahead at half time. I asked for a reaction in the second half and to settle down in possession and once that happened we dominated the game.

"Goalkeeper Josh Schofield kept us in the game in the first half and without some brilliant individual one v one saves the game could of been different. The lads produced their own individual brilliance for their goals and fully deserved the 3-0 win.

"I’m really delighted with the first four games. We’ve had four away games to start the season off and to pick up nine points from a tough start I’m really happy."
