James Kinsey is the Premier Division Manager of the Year for 2021/22 after guiding his Wythenshawe Town side to third place in their inaugural Premier Division season as well as reaching the Quarter Finals of the Buildbase FA Vase.

Wythenshawe were promoted to the Premier Division during the Non-League Restructure last summer by virtue of their Points Per Game ratio over the two seasons that were curtailed by Covid-19. Their debut season in the Premier Division saw them finish in third place, just one point behind the Play-Off place that Skelmersdale United took.

Several club records were set this season. A points total of 78 points is a league record for the South Manchester based side, as is their 29 total wins, 23 league wins, 19 clean sheets and their total goal count of 112.

James took over in at the end of March 2018 ahead of their first season in the NWCFL, finishing in a creditable fifth place. The two Covid-19 hit seasons saw Wythenshawe pick up 24 wins from their 34 games played, and it was this record that saw them promoted in the restructure.

This season they started strong, sitting in second after the first month, but a disasterous September saw them slip to 11th. They were consistent for the rest of the season, and only Champions Macclesfield picked up more points in the league from 1st October to the end of the season. They also reached the Quarter Final of the Buildbase FA Vase, being the last league team remaining in it and also setting a club record in the competition.

James oversaw 53 games this season, winning 29 of those games (54.7%), drawing 12 (22.6%) and losing 12 (22.6%). They scored 112 goals in total and conceded just 61.

On receiving news of his award, James said: "I am delighted to win Manager of the year for The North West Counties Premier Division. There’s some top, top managers in this league so I’m extremely proud to have won this award. I know there will have been many stand out candidates so I’m grateful to the league for selecting myself.

"I have an unbelievable management team that work as tirelessly as me on a daily basis. We are fortunate to have a squad of players that many are envious of and they’ve run through brick walls all season. To be in with a shout of promotion on the last game of the season, in our first season at this level, is a major achievement for us. We also reached the Quarter Final of The FA Vase, playing all but one of the rounds away from home. It was a fantastic achievement by the lads and I’m proud to manage them.

"We are keen for pre season to start and we are looking to be amongst the front runners once more."

Congratulations once again James and to all at Wythenshawe Town.
