DRAW: Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round Draw

Tue 27th August 2019 | FA Challenge Cup
By Craig Kendall

The North West Counties Football League is guaranteed at least one side in the Second Qualifying Round draw of the Emirates FA Cup after the First Qualifying Draw was announced at 1.00pm today.

Irlam, who had a superb result on Saturday when they won away at Northern Premier League side Stocksbridge Park Steels, will be away again at either Charnock Richard or Longridge Town. They drew 1-1 on Saturday and will replay on Wednesday evening.

Elsewhere 1874 Northwich will fancy their chances of progression after being drawn at home to Pickering Town, who currently sit bottom of the Northern Premier League (NPL) North West division. And Northwich Victoria will also face NPL opposition as they travel to Premier Division side Lancaster City.

Whitchurch Alport, the only other side definitely through, have had a great start to the season so far, and they will be confident of causing an upset against NPL South East side Leek Town. However Leek have also had a great start themselves, having a 100% record so far in all games they have played.

Looking at the teams who still have to navigate past a replay, and we could yet have a second all NWCFL tie. West Didsbury & Chorlton and Padiham will face each other in the next round should they overcome the task of beating NPL opposition in Stalybridge Celtic and Marine in next week's replays.

Runcorn Town will face a trip on the road should they overcome Radcliffe in next week's replay. They will face Northern League side Newcastle Benfield who will be very familiar to Paul McManus' men, with Benfield having knocked Runcorn out of the FA Vase last season in a 5-4 thriller.

Finally should Winsford United beat Ramsbottom United next Monday, they will be on the road at Northern Counties East League side Maltby Main. It will be a first meeting between the sides, with Maltby beating Loughborough University 4-1 on Saturday.
