AFC Liverpool have announced that ‘2020 – Decade of Health and Wellbeing' are to be the club's major sponsor for the 2011/12 season.

The scheme, which encourages health and wellbeing across the Liverpool and its surrounding regions, is run by Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Primary Care Trust.

The club are also pleased to announce that they have signed a deal with leading German sports brand Uhlsport, in conjunction with their local dealer, Argyle Sports, to provide the teams with their kits for the 2011/12 and the 2012/13 season.

AFC Liverpool Press Officer Karl Evans said:  "Both deals have proved to be a massive step forward for the club and couldn't have come at a better time as AFC Liverpool prepare to start their first season in the Premier Division of the North West Counties.

"The deal (with Liverpool PCT) means much more than bringing much needed income into the club as it also brings us an ideal partnership.  Since inception our club has attempted to provide something that has not been readily available to all; opportunities that were out of reach to many people.

"Our ideals give us ambitions to work with like minded organisations such as Liverpool PCT, which is part of the NHS.

"With this partnership, AFC Liverpool is given the opportunity to work together in continuing projects we have already begun such as the recent ‘Health Courses' provided by LFC ‘Action for Health', the Anthony Walker football tournament with students of Liverpool Community College and beginning new projects as soon as we can.

"Wherever possible, we want to see everyone at this club get involved with the ‘Decade of Health and Wellbeing', officials, players, management and supporters.

"Liverpool PCT has shown a great deal of confidence and trust with our young football club by sponsoring us in this way; we have to be proud of what we have already achieved and use this fantastic opportunity to grow, whilst helping others along the way."

Liverpool PCT Chairman Gideon Ben Tovim said:  "Our population faces some major challenges in terms of both physical and mental health. In fact, in a survey conducted last year people from Liverpool scored lowest in the north west for overall mental wellbeing.

We are delighted to be partnering AFC Liverpool for the Decade of Health and Wellbeing. Forging partnerships with organisations such as AFC Liverpool is vital to the success of our campaign, as it means we can reach people at a grassroots level and it is a great way for us to deliver the health and wellbeing messages.

On behalf of Liverpool PCT, I would like to thank AFC Liverpool for their support, and wish them luck for the upcoming season.”
