Farewell From Newcastle Town

As Newcastle Town prepare to officially leave our league at this coming Saturday's AGM, Town secretary Ray Tatton has sent the following message for publication on the league website.
As we enter our final week as a member of the Vodkat League, it is with mixed feelings that we must say goodbye to everyone as we set out on the road to the new challenges of the Evo-Stik League.
For years we have tried to get into the Unibond League, and would you believe it that as soon as we get there they rename it. At least we will have been members of the Unibond League for 11 days (I wonder if this is another record that we have broken) before the changeover.
However, everyone at Newcastle Town would like to say a big, big thank you to every committee member who has played a part in running the League during our 22 year membership. Thank you very much for all the support, help, advice that you have given to us and also for your valuable time that you have all given in making it possible for us to play at this level and have many happy times.
To all the member clubs that we have come across during our stay, may we also send our thanks for all the enjoyable times, the kind hospitality and the friendship that you have shown to us over the years. We have made a lot of friends during this time and the adventures that we have had will last forever in our memories.
We are looking forward to setting out on our new journey but our departure is also tinged with a little sadness as the North West Counties League has been a major part of our lives for such a long time.
We will never forget these times and we hope that we will do the League proud in the coming seasons. We hope to come across many of you in the coming seasons and if it is in a Cup Competition we know we will face a difficult task.
The League and its members are a credit to the non-league game and when one hears the moaning and problems both in the professional game and higher up the pyramid, we are proud to have been part of such a fine organisation. We will still follow the League avidly and I am sure that it will continue to go from strength to strength.
Once again, thank you all for everything, and a fond farewell from everyone at Newcastle Town.
