Darwen's number one Louis Hood was recently presented with his First Division North paxsport Goalkeeper of the Month award for September 2025. League Management Committee member Craig Buxton took a trip to Darwen's game last weekend, and he is pictured presenting Louis with his award prior to the game.

He is the first Darwen player to win this award since Oliver Lombard in October 2023.

Louis spent seven years at Accrington Stanley, coming through the Under 23's to earn himself a professional contract. He left in search of regular first team football, playing Darwen before moving on to Glossop North End in 2022/23. Last season saw him at Prestwich Heys before moving back to Darwen where he is this seasons number one.

The first game for Louis in September saw him concede a goal deep into stoppage time in a 1-1 draw at home to Fulwood Amateurs. Next up was a trip to Steeton where he made several good saves to keep his team in the game with his team scoring a late goal in a 2-1 win.

The third game was in the Isuzu FA Vase away at Northern Counties East League side Armthorpe Welfare, with Darwen running out 6-2 winners. And the fourth game of the month saw him keep his second clean sheet of the season in a goalless draw with Garstang in the Macron Cup, the visitors eventually winning on penalties.

A fine month for Louis who conceded just four goals in the four games that he played.

Congratulations to Louis for his performances in the month!
