PREMIER DIVISION

The North West Counties League Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Month Award for April 2026 has gone to Kyle Haslam of Prestwich Heys. This is the second successive month that Ky;e has won this award after winning it in March, and rounds off a fine end of season after his move to Prestwich in January.

The 29-year old started at Radcliffe before moving to Stockport Town in 2017. He then moved to Charnock Richard before joining Wythenshawe in the 2019/20 season. He remained at the Ammies for six seasons, winning the NWCFL Premier Division with them, before moving to Cheadle Town at the start of this season. He joined Prestwich in November where he became first choice goalkeeper. He has made over 200 appearances in the NWCFL.

Kyle played in all four games that Prestwich had in April, keeping clean sheets in three of them. In his final 13 games of the season, he kept 10 clean sheets and conceded just seven goals.

The first game in April was a 1-0 win at home to Chadderton. It was a close game with Prestwich thankful for a superb double save by Kyle towards the end of the first half from Lewis-Simon Byrne that secured the clean sheet.

Next up was a trip to West Didsbury & Chorlton, a game which West won 5-2. Kyle could not do anything to stop a dominant display from West, a result that ended a ten match winning streak for Prestwich and the first goals that they had conceded in seven games.

The third game of the month saw Prestwich return to winning ways with a 4-0 win over AFC Liverpool, bringing Kyle another clean sheet. Despite being four goals ahead, Kyle was instrumental in securing the shutout with a good block on the hour and a fingertip save to tip over a Joel Skillen shot with 20 minutes to go. He also denied Cam Rooney with another great save in stoppage time.

Concluding the month was a 3-0 away win at Cheadle Town. Kyle made two key stops in the first half to help secure the clean sheet, denying Oliver Kvaternik in the opening minutes before stopping a Sheriff Njie effort midway through the half.

Congratulations to Kyle on his Award!

FIRST DIVISION NORTH

The Goalkeeper of the Month award for the First Division North for February 2026 has gone to Chris Thompson of Nelson. This is the second Goalkeeper award for Morgan this season after winning it in October. It is the sixth time in total after winning it previously for Nelson and also when he was at Colne.

Thompson is an experienced keeper who came in at the start of last season, helping revival Nelson from relegation material to finish second in the league. He joined from Mossley, having previously been with Clitheroe where he made over 200 appearances and was named in their team of the decade in 2020. Other former clubs include Colne, Droylsden and Ramsbottom United.

He played sevem games in April, keeping an impressive four clean sheets and conceding seven goals of which just one was in the league.

The first game was against Maine Road with Nelson cruising to a 4-0 win with Thompson keeping his first clean sheet of the month. Next was a Macron Cup Semi Final at AFC Liverpool, where he could do little to prevent the opening two goals for the Reds, the second being a penalty. He kept his side in with a chance with a stunning save towards the end of normal time from Elliot Taylor, before the home side added a third in stoppage time.

A third game in six days came at home to Darwen. It was a close game with a few chances with Thompson marshalling his defence well throughout, keeping another clean sheet in a 1-0 win. This was followed by another clean sheet in a 5-0 win over Ashton Athletic that saw Ashton win the First Division North title.

The fifth game of the month saw Thompson concede his only league goal of the month as Nelson won 5-1 at Garstang. And the final league game was a 3-0 win for Nelson at home to MSB Woolton. It was another clean sheet for Thompson, a highlight being a fine save from Ethan Cross towards the end of the first half.

The last game of the month for Nelson came in the First Division Champions Cup Final against Runcorn Town which Runcorn won 3-1.

Congratulations!

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH

The winner of the March 2026 Goalkeeper of the Month Award for the First Division South is Callum Jakovlevs of New Mills. Its the first time that Callum has won this award this season, and the first goalkeeper award for New Mills since Joe Oldham won it in August 2024.

In total though its the fifth time that Callum has won this award, with the last one coming in February 2022 for Charnock Richard. He also won it in December of the same season, as well as twice for Wythenshawe Town in the 2019/20 season.

Callum came through the ranks at Burnley, and after leaving had spells at Nelson, Bacup Borough and Clitheroe. He first established himself in the NWCFL at Silsden in 2016 where he had two spells, a short spell at Prestwich sandwiched in between. He then spent two seasons at Wythenshawe Town before moving to Charnock Richard in 2021, He returned to Wythenshawe 18 months later, and spent the 2023/24 season and much of the next at Barnoldswick Town. He joined the Millers at the start of this season.

He played four times in April, keeping two clean sheets as New Mills won all three league games to reach the PlayOffs. He conceded just two goals in the month.

The first game and first clean sheet came in the 3-0 win at Wolverhampton Casuals on Easter Saturday in a game largely affected by the swirling wind conditions. Two days later, a second clean sheet followed in a 2-0 win at Telford Town. Callum was particularly involved late on as Telford launched a siege on the Millers goal, but his assured handling assured a shut out in a game which confirmed his team in the PlayOffs.

A return game against Telford Town on the following Saturday rounded off New Mills' league campaign, a 5-1 win that confirmed they finished third thanks to results elsewhere.

The final game of the month came in the Semi Final of the PlayOffs at home to Stockport Georgians.  After conceding early, Callum made two key saves, one in each half to keep his side in the game, but they couldn't find a leveller meaning they crashed out of the PlayOffs at that stage.

Congratulations Callum!
