Premier Division - Wythenshawe

Winning the Premier Division award for April 2026 is Champions Wythenshawe. This is their second monthly award in the Premier Division this season having previously won this award in December.

Wythenshawe played five games in the month and won all of them as they cruised to the Premier Division title. Three of the wins came at home with two on the road. They were also comfortable wins for the majority, scoring a whopping 27 goals in the month at an average of over five a game, and conceded just four.

The first game in March saw them take a trip up to Barnoldswick Town, with Jack Banister and Darius Palma giving them a two goal lead inside nine minutes. Goals either side of the break from Samuel Adewusi and Aaron Dwyer made it four, with the Ammies faithful having to wait until five minutes from time for the next goal courtesey of Princewill Anuniru. Gareth Hill pulled one back as we entered stoppage time only for Joel Ankers to add a sixth goal four minutes later.

Two days later on Easter Monday and West Didsbury & Chorlton paid a visit to Wythenshawe. With West in good form, this proved to be a close game with just a solitary goal separating the two sides, this coming from Aaron Dwyer nine minutes into the second half.

They moved to within three points of winning the league with a trip to Pilkington that saw Wythenshawe win 8-1. The first half proved to be the Aaron Dwyer show with the leading scorer netting a hat-trick in the first half hour of the game. Darius Palma added a fourth just before the hour before two goals in three minutes from Samuel Adewusi and Joel Ankers made it six. Darius Palma added a seventh on 74 minutes with Kyle Robinson-Murray scoring a consolation foral for Pilks a minute later. Princewill Anuniru completed the scoring on 82 minutes.

The title was wrapped up in style with a 5-1 home win against Irlam. Aaron Dwyer opened the scoring on four minutes with Princewill Anuniru adding a second on the quarter hour mark. Curtis Jones made it three just after the break with Eoin Charles adding the fourth. A goal from Henry Carne 15 minutes frion time got the party going, and not even a consolation from Ethan Cartwright three minutes later soured the festivities.

The Championship was presentetd at their ginal game of the season on the Saturday with a 7-1 win at home to Longrisge Town. Two goals from Aaron Dwyer on 15 and 22 minutes got the party started with Williams Proctor pulling one back for Longridge three minutes later. Wythenshawe replied with another quickfire double from Curtis Jones and Darius Palma with Dwyer completing another hat-trick on 52 minutes. Joshua Dickin made it six just after the hour with Joel Ankers rounding off the scoring.

Those performances gave Wythenshawe 17 points from their 5 games for a 3.40 average.

Their nearest challengers were Glossop North End who had three wins and two draws. AFC Liverpool finished strongly with six wins from seven games, whilst Prestwich Heys won three of the four games they played.

First Division North - Maghull

Club of the Month in the First Division North for April 2026 is Maghull. This is their second Club of the Month win having won the same award back in August, nicely bookending what has been a fine season for the club.

They finished March strongly with three wins in their last four games, and took this form into April with two wins of the three league games that they played in April taking them into the PlayOffs. There they also won on the road in the Semi Final to progress to the PlayOff Final. In total in April, they scored 12 goals and conceded four.

Their first game in April came in at Colne as they chased down the PlayOffs. Connor Rankin opened the scoring on 20 minutes with William Dunne adding a second just a minute into the second half. Four minute late, Dunne grabbed another to give Maghull a 3-0 lead, which they saw out to record a fine win.

Two days later came fellow PlayOff chasing side MSB Woolton. It was fifth against sixth, and at this stage of the season was no surprise that the game ended all square. What was surprising though was that it was goalless, this being the first time since Maghull returned to the NWCFL last season that they have recorded a goalless draw.

Maghull finished the league season with a fine 5-2 win away at Daisy Hill, a result that saw them guarantee themselves a PlayOff spot. They fell behind to a Liam Sheppard goal after 27 minutes with Connor Rankin levelling on 35 minutes. It remained that way until eight minutes into the second half with Sam Smith giving Maghull a slender lead. With 17 minutes of the game remaining, Matthew Plested levelled for Daisy Hill, however Maghull went straight up the other end from kick off and Jamie Clark restored the lead. Jacob Till then added another four minutes later, with William Dunne adding a fifth in stoppage time.

They finished fourth in the table meaning that Maghull were away in the PlayOff Semi Final. For the second time in three games, this meant facing MSB Woolton, however the result was significantly different. Freed from the pressure of chasing the PlayOff's, Nathan Moffitt put Maghull ahead after just four minutes. It stayed that way until ten minutes into the second half when a well worked corner allowed Connor Rankin to add a second. Sean Smallwood pulled one back for Woolton before a penalty was calmly slotted home by Jamie Clark to restore the two goal lead with 12 minutes remaining. Woolton again pulled one back with five minutes left through Joe Harvey, only for Sam Smith to add a fourth for Maghull in the last minute of regular time.

Those results gave Maghull 13 points from their 4 games for a 3.25 average.

Droylsden had a good month with four wins from six games, with Nelson winning five of the seven games that they played.

Total Games played in the Month: 4
Total Points won in the Month: 13

First Division South - New Mills

The winner of the Club of the Month in the First Division South for April 2026 are New Mills. This award has been a long time coming for the Millers, with the last Club of the Month they won being back in March 2024.

New Mills won three out of four games that they played in the month, the first three being wins in the league that took them up to a finishing position of third in the league. The only game that they didn't win came in the PlayOffs, a narrow loss to Stockport Georgians who went on to gain promotion.

The first two games were on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, with two long distance away trips. The first on Easter Saturday saw them travel to Wolverhampton Casuals where they won 3-0. The first half was goalless with Millen Brown giving them the perfect start to the second half with a goal inside two minutes. Saul Henderson then converted a penalty on 56 minutes before adding his second and New Mills' third seven minutes from time.

Two days later and it was back down the M6 for a trip to Telford Town. Again a clean sheet was the foundation in a 2-0 victory. It was another Saul Henderson penalty that put them ahead in this game, that coming two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half. Luc Ferry added the second goal of the game just before the hour.

The third game was New Mills' final league game of the season, which was a return match against Telford and one that they won 5-1. It was a stunning first half performance this time that sealed the win, with William Shawcross opening the scoring on six minutes before Saul Henderson added a second on 14 minutes. Henderson's second of the game just before the half hour made it three with Luc Ferry adding a fourth a few minutes before half time. It was celebration time when Alfie Belcher made it five midway through the second half, and not even a consolation from Joshua McKenzie could dampen the spirit.

Those results meant that it was Stockport Georgians at home in the PlayOffs. With just one league place separating the two, it looked a close game on paper and that's how it turned out with McDaniel Kyobe's 23rd minute goal giving Georgians the win.

That meant New Mills picked up ten points in April from four games played for a 2.5 average.

Runcorn Town and Alsager Town were their nearest challengers in April. Runcorn won five games, drew one and lost two, whilst Alsager won three of the four games that they played to climb out of the bottom three and secure their place in the NWCFL for next season.

Total Games played in the Month: 4
Total Points won in the Month: 10
Average: 2.5

Congratulations to all of the winners in April.
