November 2023 Player of the Month Awards announced

Sun 10th December 2023 | League Awards
By Gary Langley

Despite the bad weather in November and some late postponements, November was a busy month for games and that has produced some good performances around many clubs.  That has been reflected in the recent club submissions of nominees.

Player of the Month for November in the Premier Division is awarded to Yacin Amarzou of Skelmersdale United.  Yacin's stats read as follows:

Position: Midfield
Games Played: 6
Man of the Match: 2
Goals: 1
Assists: 4

Yacin's good performances were reflected in his clubs nomination form and despite not being with the club for too long, it looks like he has made an immediate impact.  "Reason for Nomination: Since joining the club towards the end of October Yacin has been appointed club captain and has been a key player in the team’s recent upturn in form. He was ever present during the month of November and has been involved and instrumental in virtually every goal the team have scored during the month, as well as picking up two man of the match nominations from opponents."

Well done Yacin and keep up the good work!

There is a familiar name for our First Division North award.  Our congratulations go again to Lewis Rawsthorn of Atherton LR!  Not his first Player award this season and it's easy to see why when you see his numbers.

Position: Striker
Games Played: 5
Man of the Match: 3
Goals: 5
Assists: 4

Quite rightly. Atherton LR have reflected these numbers in his nomination statement.  "Reason for Nomination: Lewis has smashed it again this month!! Another strong performance in each game for Lewis and LR. Lewis has contributed massively for the team. Lewis has once again been scoring goals across all 5 important games.... with his first goal headed in against Premier Division side AFC Liverpool along with 3 of his assists in this game helped the team progress into the next round of the Macron Cup. Lewis went from goal scorer to goal provider setting up goals for his strike partners Cal Hunter & Luke Nicholls in a 6-1 victory. Lewis’s then went on to scoring another 2 goals against Shelley in an important league win for the team, with a left footed effort and a right footed effort."

"Lewis's outstanding form continued into the next match, where he scored another 2 goals against promotion chasing Euxton Villa in an impressive win for LR in a top of the table clash showing his natural goal scoring abilities again one on his right and one on his left. Lewis’s 3 man of a match awards this month shows that you don’t have to always score goals to win man of the match as he picked up just 1 of the 3 from the opposition against Ilkley where no goals were scored by Lewis. Lewis has picked up man of the match from 100% of league games played this month who knows if man of the match was known for cup games it could have been more!! In every game Lewis never gives up, whether that’s giving verbal encouragement towards his team or just continuing with his none stop work ethic. Lewis has shown he is more than just a goal score but in fact a goal provider which is yet another fantastic ability he has. Well done Lewis on another great month."

Well done Lewis and we will catch up with you soon.

In First Division South the award this month goes to Joshua Oultram of Sandbach United, a player who has been pivotal in his club picking up the Club of the Month Award.  Joshua's stats are as follows:

Position: Centre Forward
Games Played: 3
Man of the Match: 2
Goals: 5
Assists: 2

It is hard to argue with five goals in three games.  In their nomination statement, Sandbach tell us "Josh had struggled this year in front of goal missing the clinical touch required to play the CF role well. Although something seemed to click this month, having only scored one goal all season prior to November in the cup, Josh suddenly found a rich vein of form. His good form began in the home fixture against Eccleshall where he was given the 9 shirt in the starting line up rather than his bench seat over the last few months. Of course he jumped at the chance and more than seized the opportunity. It took only 4 minutes for him to get onto the score sheet giving the Ramblers a perfect start having literally mugged the goalkeeper he showed his intent and passion in the fixture early. 29 minutes later Josh scored his second of the game to make it 6-0 to Sandbach, despite the score he did not ease up and was desperate to find the net again which he did on the 46th minute. (A quick goal at the start of each half) and lapped up the praise for his hat-trick. Of course he had to grab an assist before he was substituted to make way for Kattah. A fantastic performance and somehow he missed out on MOM which was surely warranted. Next up was a very tough away game to Stockport Town, but that played into Oultrams hand as he thrives in the tougher games. On the 8th minute he applied so much pressure on the CB that he pretty much forced an own goal by Stockport as he eagerly awaited a tap in should Stockport not have scored."

"At 2-1 down in the first half Josh came out like a gazelle in the 2nd half with fire in his belly and it took only 7 minutes for him to get in between the defender and keeper force and error to nick the ball and score. pure strength and passion scored the equaliser which was a catalyst for the Ramblers to kick on and win the game coming from behind away to a good side. The opposition clearly recognised his effort awarding him MOM. In the third game he held onto his starting position through good form and again scored within the opening ten minutes of the game to great applause albeit not a classic goal it got the team fired up and helped the Ramblers to 3 wins from 3 two of which were away. Josh scored 5 goals in 3 games having only scored 1 goal in the previous 3 months. He played a key part in helping Sandbach United towards a potential team of the month award. scored a hat-rick and was MOM all of this in just 3 games. A worthy candidate for player of the month for November."

We are inclined to agree and the match back that up.  Congratulations Joshua!

Congratulations to all winners and our League Representatives will be out at forthcoming fixtures to present you with your awards.
