Isuzu FA Vase Fourth Round Draw

Mon 5th December 2022 | FA Challenge Vase
By Martin Fallon

The draw has been made for the Fourth Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Vase.

Of the 32 teams still remaining in the competition, five teams remain from the North West Counties Football League! This is the joint highest number of teams we have had at this stage, equaling the record from 2002/03.

Unfortunately though back in 2002/03 the Fourth Round was an open draw, however in 2022/23 it is still a regionalised draw with three different zones. Four of our teams are amongst the six  teams in Zone One, meaning that at least one all-NWCFL tie was sadly inevitable.

That will see Bury AFC host Holker Old Boys, and it should be a fascinating encounter with the two sides finishing in the top two last season. Bury AFC won the home game 2-0 with the other game at Holker ending in a goalless draw.

In other ties, AFC Liverpool will travel to Northern Counties East League side Eccleshill United, who beat Longridge United 4-2 on penalties on Saturday following a 1-1 draw. They have also won at Wythenshawe Town (also on penalties) and Cleator Moor Celtic in the Vase this season.

West Didsbury & Chorlton will entertain Horden Community Welfare, with Horden being the last remaining Northern League side in the competition. Horden beat Darwen 2-0 on Saturday, and in previous rounds in the Vase this season, they have overcome Barnoldswick Town and Steeton (on penalties).

In Zone 2 are Congleton Town, and they will be pleased with a home tie against Pinchbeck United. The Bears are unbeaten at home this season, with United Counties League side Pinchbeck United facing a NWCFL side for the very first time. Pinchbeck United are from Lincolnshire, and play at Spalding United's Sir Halley Stewart Ground.

The full list of ties is below. Ties will take place on Saturday 14th January 2023 with any league ties scheduled for that date to be rearranged.

There are no replays. When a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the winner shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with the procedure adopted by The International Football Association Board. If a match is postponed, this must be rescheduled and played within the postponement window, on or before Sunday 22 January.
