We were delighted to catch up recently with Runcorn Town, winners of the First Division South PST Sport Club of the Month award for September 2025.
The Runcorn Town Management and Backroom Team are pictured receiving the award on behalf of the club from League Vice Chairman Geoff Wilkinson who carried out the presentation on behalf of the League Committee at last Saturday's game.
This is the first monthly award for Runcorn Town since they won the Premier Division Club of the Month in September 2017.
After a good end to last season, they have started superbly and sat second in the First Division South table at the end of September. They won two and drew two in the league, and had a superb win in the Isuzu FA Vase against a Premier Division side Stockport Town. They also progressed through in the Macron Cup.
They started the month with a 2-2 home draw with New Mills, The Millddders took a fourth minute lead with Connor Spiers levelling three minutes later. New Mills then regained the lead just before the hour before Jamie Apperley levelled for the second time six minutes later. Next was a 2-1 home win over Cammell Laird 1907. Matty Ball put Runcorn ahead with another fourth minute goal before Lairds levelled nine minutes later. Charlie Harland hit the winner for Runcorn, that goal coming again just before the hour mark.
Another draw followed at Eccleshall, and this time Runcorn had to show their bouncebackability. Eccleshall went 2-0 up in this game and deservedly led at the break. Matty Vickers started the comeback with a 51st minute goal, with Vickers then levelling matters with 18 minutes to go. Two days later Vickers was again Runcorn's saviour, this time scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Cheadle Heath Nomads.
Attention then turned to the Isuzu FA Vase, with Runcorn travelling to Stockport Town who play in the league above them. A dominant performance saw Will Avon open the scoring from a well worked set piece on 24 minutes, with Ryan Katumba securing a 2-0 win with a goal nine minutes into the second half.
The final game saw Barnton visit Runcorn in the Macron Cup. It was another clean sheet in a 1-0 win, with Connor Spiers once again on target with his 14th minutes strike proving decisive.
That gave them 19 points from their 6 games for a 3.17 average.
Closest to them was Sandbach United, who also had four wins and two draws. Newcomers Telford Town also had another good month with three wins, a draw and a loss.
Total Games played in the Month: 6o
Total Points won in the Month: 19
Average: 3.17
Congratulations to all of the winners.
