Premier Division side Whitchurch Alport have appointed Luke Goddard as first team manager.

After advertising the position the club was pleased to receive over thirty applicants. However once former manager Luke Goddard entered discussions for the role he became a clear favourite.

The Shropshire based outfit released a teaser video on Twitter with club chairman Tony Rogers saying "I'm absolutely delighted that we've got our man." Rogers added "he attracts the right type of playes to whichever club he is managing, players want to play for him and we're looking forward to watching his team play."

In an interview after returning to the club Goddard said "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to manage this great football team again, in what will be a new start and journey once we are allowed to return. The past six months have been very difficult, but off the field the club is in its strongest position since I joined as manager originally four years ago."

"After numerous discussions with Tony, I couldn't not be attracted to returning as first team manager and help the club push forward out of this current pandemic and unearth more potential."

"It is in agreement that I will solely manage the first team and with that i shall relinquish all of my other roles at the club over the next few weeks. This is to ensure that my complete focus is on the pitch just as it was when I first joined."

Goddard also had a message for the Alport fans saying "Together, we WILL bring back the good times, do things the Alport way and deliver a team that makes our great town proud. Please stay safe for now and take care."
