August Club of the Month Awards Confirmed

The North West Counties League's Club of the Month Awards for August have been confirmed today and after a good start by a number of clubs there were a number of sides in contention.
 
In the Premier Division the winners are - WHITCHURCH ALPORT.  Whitchurch Alport flew out of the trapps this campaign and immediately made a statement by beating much-fancied Northwich Victoria, away, in their first game of the season.  The club have also progressed in the FA Cup, progressing through the Extra Preliminary Round and the Preliminary Round against tough opponents including Coleshill Town away.  Congratulations to all at Whitchurch Alport!

03.08 - Northwich Victoria (away) won 0 - 1
05.08 - Hanley Town (home) won 4 - 1
10.08 - Malvern Town (away) won 1 - 2 FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round)
17.08 - Padiham (away) won 1 - 4
19.08 - Congleton Town (home) draw 1 - 1
24.08 - Coleshill Town (away) won 0 - 3 (FA Cup Preliminary Round)
26.08 - Skelmersdale United (away) won 2 - 3
 
In Division One North the Club of the Month Award goes to - PRESTWICH HEYS.  Prestwich Heys had a tough start in their eight game month when they travelled to Division newcomers Golcar United and were beaten 2-1.  A few days later they lost 2-0 to Nelson at home, this proved to be a turning point though as they went unbeaten in their next six games which included a superb 1-0 win over Premier Division 1874 Northwich in the Buildbase FA Vase.  Well done to Prestwich Heys.

The Division One South Club of the Month for August are - WEST DIDSBURY & CHORLTON.  West Didsbury and Chorlton shook off the disappointment of last seasons relegation that saw them return to Division One for the first time in eight years.  They got off to a flying start with a 4-0 win on the road at Eccleshall as well as wins in local derby games.  West Didsbury & Chorlton also progressed in the FA Cup which included a decent win on the road at Premier Division Squires Gate.  Congratulations to West Didsbury & Chorlton.
