For Lower Breck FC, promotion into Division One North for the coming season is the latest step in a remarkable progression from their formation in the summer of 2010, based in the Tuebrook area of Liverpool.
The club have made the transition from Youth side to our league by accelerating up through the leagues since joining the Liverpool County League's 2nd Division in 2012/13 as an open age side for the first time.
The come into the league on the back of a tremendous season last year in 2017/18, winning all four competitions they played in and also going unbeaten throughout the whole campaign with a run stretching back to October 2016.
They also swept the board in every cup competition they competed for, meaning that the trophies for the Liverpool County Premier League, the LCFA Challenge Cup, the George Mahon Cup and the I-Zinagri Cup all sit proudly in the club's trophy cabinet.
Now, the club can look forward to welcoming fellow Division One North clubs to their home at the Anfield Sports Community Centre, which as the name suggests is less than a mile from the "other " Anfield, home of Liverpool FC.
As well as being the home of the first team, the ground is also the home of a reserve side which will compete in the Liverpool County Premier League, two under 18 sides that play in the West Cheshire Youth League and two under 14s teams who play in the Liverpool County Premier Junior Leagues.
James Davies, the Club's Honorary Secretary, says the club has always been planning to make the move to join our league.
"The Club had aspirations from the outset in 2010, with regards to wanting to take the club forward at every opportunity, and the discussion began in earnest around two years ago", said James.
"It wasn’t until around April/May 2017 that we sat down and discussed the possibility of applying for the Hallmark Security League for the 2018/19 season, and after many meetings over a period of six months with our partners at Anfield Sports Community Centre and the League's Ground Grading committee, we pushed forward with our application and made it a reality.
"We also had a few conversations with the lads at Litherland REMYCA, most notably Dave Evans (Club Secretary). He was more than helpful in terms of what we needed with ground requirements and was always there to help with any questions we had.
"We also had a lot of feedback from other local teams indicating that they thought we should take the step-up and this, along with our successes on the pitch, acted as a catalyst for our development".
As far as expectations for the season are concerned, James says the Club will continue to aim high.
"Obviously the whole experience will be very exciting for everyone involved with the club and bringing this level of football to the community is a great source of pride to us.
"Playing at a higher level and travelling for away fixtures is also something we are looking forward to and representing the League and the Liverpool County FA in the best way possible.
"From a footballing perspective, promotion in our first season is our ultimate aim and a few little cup runs, especially in the FA Vase, would be an absolute bonus. Also, to try and raise the profile of our club and grow a community fan-base are things that we will be working hard to do.
"A lot of time and effort has gone in to making this dream a reality, and we want to repay that faith put in us as a club by being a success on the pitch, while making an impact off the pitch also".
