Will Saxon of Foley Meir was recently presented with his First Division South Player of the Month award for November 2025.
This presentation has been delayed due to postponements and unavailability, but League Ambassador Andrew Reid popped along to a recent game, and he is pictured presenting Will with his award before the game.
This is the first time that a Foley Meir player has won Player of the Month since they came into the NWCFL and the first award that the club has won.
The 28-year old has spend a large portion of his career in the Northern Premier League. He joined Kidsgrove Athletic after leaving University before moving onto Nantwich Town. A year later he moved to Leek Town where he spent three seasons before rejoining Kidsgrove. He moved onto Runcorn Linnets for the 2023/24 season before leaving 18 months later to go travelling. He moved to Foley Meir at the start of this season.
Like Miles in the North, Will has had a perfect month for Foley Meir in November, playing in all three games that the club has played, picking up Man of the Match in all three games as well as directly contributing massively to Foley's goals in the month.
The opening game of the month was against Wolverhampton Sporting Community with Foley finding themselves 1-0 down from an early penalty. Will helped rally his teammates and set up Jay Finney to equalise just before half time. The second half saw Foley grab another which was enough to win the game 2-1, with Will named Man of the Match for Foley.
Next came a home game with Shawbury United with Will a constant threat all afternooin. After Foley took the lead, he set up Nathan Barry for the second with a superb through ball, and he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself with Ashley Rawlins making a superb stop to deny him. The game again finished 2-1 with Will picking up another Man of the Match.
The final game came at New Mills with Foley taking the lead after just five minutes. Leading at the break, Foley then doubled the lead five minutes into the second half when Will got clear and was brought down in the box for a penalty which gave Foley a second goal. With three minutes remaining, Will got clear of the offside trap and pushed the ball past the keeper before rolling it into the empty net for the third. The Millers got a consolation but Foley won 3-1, Will getting his third Man of the Match of the month and his fifth of the season.
Congratulations Will!
