The Winners of the Player of the Month Awards for September 2025 have been announced by the NWCFL.

PREMIER DIVISION

The North West Counties League Premier Division Player of the Month Award for September 2025 has gone to Jacob Holland-Wilkinson of Ramsbottom United. This is the first time that he has won this award and the first for Rammy since Grant Spencer won it in April 2012.

Jacob is a Preston North End academy graduate who moved to Stoke City in 2022. After appearances for the Under 21's there, he moved to Lancaster City upon his release. He joined Bury midway through the 2023/24 season, playing 11 times in the NWCFL. At the start of last season he moved to Chorley where loan spells followed at Widnes and Lancaster, before joining Rammy at the start of this season.

After scoring three times in the opening eight games, he has had a really good September to become a firm fans favourite at The Riverside.

The opening game of the month saw him score after just five minutes against Wythenshawe. A blistering run down the left saw him advance into the box before firing low past the keeper. Seven minutes later he had his second, stroking home a cross from Matt Dudley. The game finished 3-0 with Jacob winning Man of the Match.

Next was another home game against AFC Liverpool where two goals before the break put Rammy in control. Jacob hit the third, a high shot into the roof of the net for the Rams third, before setting up Harvey Heyhurst to fire in the fourth. Rammy won 4-2.

The third game was at home to Stockport Town which Rammy drew 3-3. Jacob set up the first equaliser just before the break for his side, a lovely cross from the left that Tom Walker headed past the keeper. And the fourth goal saw him work hard in a 2-0 win over Burscough.

He was back on the scoresheet in the fifth game of the month, an 8-0 win over Glasshoughton Welfare in the Isuzu FA Vase. Jacob scored the third goal of the gamejust before half time with a low header, then just after the break rolled a lovely, weighted cross into the path of Matt Dudley for the fourth.

His best game of the month came at Euxton Villa where Rammy won 4-0. Jacob scored three to take home the matchball and also set up the other. His first on 11 minutes was a close range finish and the second three minutes later saw him meet a low cross on the run with another first time finish. He then set up Hayhurst for the third with a lovely pick out in the box before completing his hat-trick on 78 minutes with another composed finish. Unsurprisingly he was named Man of the Match in this game.

The final game of the month was a 3-2 defeat at Irlam. Trailing 2-0, Rammy battled back and levelled things in stoppage time when Jacob chested the ball down from a cross from the right before slotting past the keeper. Unfortunately for Rammy, Irlam hit a winner minutes later.

Jacob played seven games in total, scoring in five of them with eight goals to his name. He also weighed in with two Man of the Match wins and four assists.

Congratulations Jacob!

FIRST DIVISION NORTH

The First Division North Player of the Month for September 2025 goes to Andrew Murphy of Garstang, the first win of this for the club since last November 2021 when Joe Noblet picked up this award.

Andrew has been a virtual ever present in the Garstang lineups since they came into the NWCFL back in 2018/19 season. The only time he was not there was when he signed for Squires Gate ahead of the 2024/25 season starting, however he soon returned after just a couple of appearances!

In the opening game of the month at home to MSB Woolton, he was instrumental in Garstang getting a point. He opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game and then doubled the lead from the penalty spot midway through the second half. Unfortunately for him and Garstang, Woolton hit back with two goals in four minutes late on to grab a point.

Next up was a trip down the M55 to AFC Blackpool with Garstang returning with a point after a 1-1 draw. Once again Andrew was on the scoresheet, his goal six minutes from time giving Garstang the lead although a late, late leveller meant it was honours even.

The final game of the month for Andrew came at higher ranked Northallerton Town in the Isuzu FA Vase. Garstang lost 2-0 in that game with both goals coming in the second half.

In total, three games and three goals for Andrew!

Congratulations to Sam on a fine month.

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH

The First Division South Player of the Month for September 2025 goes to forward Alex Hughes of Telford Town. He is the first Telford player to win one of the monthly awards since they joined the league in the summer.

Alex is no stranger to the NWCFL, making over 100 appearances for Whitchurch Alport when they were a member club before their lateral movement to the Midland League. He also played for Alsager Town last season before moving to Shrewsbury Up & Comers where he fired in 67 goals in just 44 games. He moved to Telford at the start of this season.

His first game in September for Telford saw him fire his side ahead in the third minute at Cammell Laird 1907. The home side hit back though to secure a 1-1 draw. Next up was a home tie with Shawbury United, Alex scoring their goal in a 2-1 defeat.

His contributions have been pivotal in driving the team’s momentum, and his work rate off the ball has set the tone for others to follow. The third game showed this where despite him not finding the net, he was crucial for his side in securing a 3-1 win at Stafford Town.

The fourth game saw Alex back on the scoresheet in a 5-0 win at Wolverhampton Casuals, with Alex scoring the second goal of the game from the penalty spot. His contributions saw him set up several other goals in this game with Alex winning Man of the Match.

The final game was a 7-1 home win against Wolverhampton Sporting Community in the Macron Cup. Alex scored twice in this game, scoring the third and fifth goals in the game.

Congratulations Alex!
