The North West Counties Football League Limited are disappointed to announce the cancellation of the 2025 NWCFL Champions Cup fixture between Bury and Charnock Richard, due to take place on Monday 21st July.
We had been informed earlier this morning (Saturday) by Bury FC that they have insufficient player availability for Monday evening due to players being at work and on holiday.
Additionally, the Club had intended to field a selection of players from their Under 23's team but have since disbanded this team.
The League Emergency Committee have convened and taken the decision to cancel the game due to the short notice logistical implications for supporters and other interested parties and as a result, the annual curtain raiser for the season supporting the League Charity Partners, will not take place as planned. The trophy will be awarded to Charnock Richard.
Tickets for the fixture were sold via Bury FC and any refunds for tickets purchased will need to be sought through them.
