In what has been a busy mointh of fixtures across all three Divisions there have been a number of strong individual performances across the Month of October, which has made the Player of the Month awards a really tough call this month.  That said, Clubs have been strong in their support and submissions for the award nominations and there are three winners below who have all stood out and have been verified and confirmed by the NWCFL as award winners for the Month October.  The Monthly awards winners are as follows:

Premier Division - Nathan Cliffe (Squires Gate)

Position: Striker
Games Played: 8
MoM Nomination: 3
Goals: 8
Assists: 3

Reason: Nathan has had a great October, 8 goals in total from 7 games played in all competitions with 7 goals in the 5 league games including 2 hat tricks v's Glossop & Skem. Also had 2 assists to his name in the league in what was a good month for Squires Gate. The hat tricks game in crucial games with Glossop 1 place above and Skem in the place below. So huge hat tricks!

Well done Nathan!

First Division North - Joel Ankers (Runcorn Town)

Position: Forward
Games Played: 6
MoM Nomination: 1
Goals: 7
Assists: 2

Reason: Its been a torrid couple of years for Runcorn Town with not much to cheer about, but the corner could be turning for the long suffering supporters with a little help from forward Joel Ankers. In six games in October, Joel scored seven goals, claimed two assists and picked up Man of the Match by the opponents in one of the three league games played (there's no nomination in cup games!).

The first game of the month was the highlight with Joel scoring four goals against Route One Rovers, with all four showcasing different aspects of Joel's ability. The first came after just 38 seconds when easily scored after being put through, and the second saw him round the keeper as he found himself one on one. His hat-trick on 18 minutes saw him find the corner of the net and the fourth shortly before the break was a precision volley.

It had Runcorn Town dusting off the record books with the last hat-trick for the club being on the last game before Covid hit in March 2020. It was the first time since April 2018 that a Town player had scored four, and the first time someone had scored four times in one half since August 2017!

His next contributions came against FC St Helens in the Macron Cup, setting up the opener for Matt Ball with a smart backheel on 12 minutes that bamboozled the visiting defence. He then scored the crucial second goal, showcasing his quick reactions as he scored from close range after Jamie Apperley's shot was saved.

Next came a double against Darwen FC in a game where he was excellent. He outmuscled a defender to score the opener midway through the half. And after a number of shots were saved by the visiting keeper, he added a second in stoppage time with a precision penalty. A fantastic month overall for Joel who is a worthy winner of the Player of the Month award.

Well done Joel!

First Division South - Morgan Payne (Brocton)

Position: Forward
Games Played: 8
MoM Nomination: 0
Goals: 11
Assists: 3

Reason: Morgan played in 4 League games and 4 Cup games, scoring 6 League Goals and 5 Cup. He has been in excellent form all month scoring 2 hat tricks and getting goals in vital times of the game.  Morgan isn't just an out and out goal scorer but his presence around the pitch in creating chances and maintaining possession has made him a key player for us.

Congratulations to all three Player of the Month winners across the Divisions.  Our League representatives will be out over the coming weeks to present you with your awards.
