The Player of the Month awards for December 2022 have been announced.

PREMIER DIVISION - HARRY BRAZEL (BURY AFC)

Harry Brazel is the Premier Division Player of the Month, winning this award for the second time after picking it up for Runcorn Town in December 2018. He also becomes the fifth different Bury AFC player to win it.

Harry is tenacious midfielder, who is having a fantastic season in the Premier Division. His box to box running and controlling play helps to clear the ball in defence and build up play for attacks.

Although he hasn’t provided a lot of assists this month he has certainly been involved in the build up to most of goals this season let alone the month. His only goal this month was a sublime 18 yard looping acrobatic diving header in the game against Barnoldswick to open the scoring in a game that looked to be heading towards a stalemate. This was his 3rd goal of the season.

Well done Harry!

FIRST DIVISION NORTH - LIAM HOUGHTON (FC ST HELENS)

Winning FC St Helens' first ever Player  of the Month award is striker Liam Houghton.

Liam has put in a real captains performances, leading the attacking phase of FC St Helens' unbeaten run in December where he has been directly invoved in four out of the clubs five goals that they have scored in the month. He is a stalwart of the club and has great consistency this season.

He picked up Man of the Match in the first game at Cleator Moor Celtic, causing problems for the home side throughout and setting up the equaliser for Joe Barker on the hour. Next came another Man of the Match in the home game with Garstang, where he scored FC's only goal from the penalty spot.

His second goal of the month came in the third game at home to Darwen FC, that taking him to nine for the season. And he picked up an assist in the 1-1 draw in the derby game with Pilkington on Boxing Day, again setting up Jack Graham to put his side ahead.

Well done Liam!

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - KIERAN ALLEY (SANDBACH UNITED)

Kieran Alley only joined Sandbach in November and has made an instant impact for the team which can be seen from the change in results and the recent good run of form.

Kieran has played in 4 games in December, starting in 3 games and being a substitute in the other. He has amassed 3 goals and 3 assists in this short spell and obtained a MOM nomination. Sandbach have won 3 of the 4 games losing out only to top of the table Stockport Town a game in which Kieran was forced to play out of position as a left back effectively preventing him from adopting his usual dynamic fast paced attacking football.

He has a ferocious shot on him and you would fancy him to score when one on one but it his conversion ration of shots to goals and his ability to deliver dangerous crosses from deep down the flanks that makes him stand out. He is a very clever player with quick feet and seemingly able to play devilishly well with both feet at times. Of course he has turned provider on 3 occasions in the month as well and save for some poor finishing from others should really have seen his tally even higher this month.

Only turning 22 this month, its safe to say he is an emerging talent that has shone since his move to Sandbach from Cheadle Heath Nomads. He has picked up no bookings in the month and sets a great example to the other players for his fine attitude and respectful style of play.

Well done Kieran!
