Atherton LR Appoint Baguley

Atherton LR have announced that Chris Baguley has been appointed the new LR 1st team manager following the departure of Nick Matthews. The former FC United & Ashton United player joins LR having been manager at AFC Monton last season winning the Murray Trophy in the Manchester League. Chris is joined alongside his two brothers Jamie & Mark who will form his management team providing a large knowledge base and experience of the non-league scene.
Chris shared his thoughts upon joining LR: “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to hopefully drive the club forward, which I think it deserves. Some of the squad is new to me but we are going to work hard, start with the basics and pick up results along the way. I have my own lads coming on board with me who I have worked with before. I am really pleased and looking forward to the challenge now!”
The club conducted interviews in the past week after receiving many applications and a decision was made by the club committee on Friday. Chairman Shaun Lynch led the interviews and spoke about his decision in bringing Chris to the club: “When Nick stepped down and the news broke about us needing a new manager, I was inundated with applicants. I wanted to get someone in asap to galvanise the lads already signed on and obviously sign more players to get us out of the bottom three.
"We did 7 face-to-face interviews, all quality people who I would give the job to. Chris and his team got the job through us loving his passion, ideas, network of players and I’d already had managers in higher leagues who have worked with Chris and know him highly recommending him and his brothers. I can’t wait to see what happens from here on in, I’ve got a feeling we’re in for good times. Up the LR!”
Chris takes charge of LR for the first time on Saturday October 15th when they welcome NWCFL Premier Division side Kendal Town to Crilly Park in the Macron Cup.
