MACRON PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
PREMIER DIVISION - ADAM GILCHRIST OF ASHTON ATHLETIC
Adam Gilchrist returned to Ashton at the end of October after plying his trade at a higher level for a number of years. During November he scored a total of six goals and collected four man of the match nominations out of the six matches he played.
All strikers are judged on goals but "Gilly" adds more than that to the team. His work rate in closing defenders down and his unselfish play makes him a great asset to the club. He was certainly rewarded for his efforts during November.
FIRST DIVISION NORTH - WILLIAM SHAWCROSS OF CHADDERTON
William is in his first season with Chadderton, having started in the Reserves, and has progressed into the First Team. He is in a good run of form and was given three man of the match nominations during November and chipped in with two goals and three assists.
Will is only small in height but that does not stop him going at defenders, and with his tricky feet he causes defenders problems especially in the penalty area. He is still learning but there is a lot more to come from him.
FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - LEE CROPPER OF ABBEY HULTON UNITED
Lee is a skilful centre forward, who has pace and a good left foot, and is confident in taking players on as he goes on the attack.
In the five games he played in November, he scored five goals and received two Man of the Match nominations for his efforts. His recent performances helped Abbey Hulton United finish the month in top spot and his goalscoring efforts took his tally for the campaign to 16 goals.
REUSCH GOALKEEPER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
PREMIER DIVISION - CRAIG ELLISON OF CONGLETON TOWN
During November, Craig maintained the high standards he set over the opening three months, and kept five clean sheets out of six matches played and only conceded one in the other game.
Starting the month away to Ashton Athletic, Craig started with routine saves before being beaten on 40 minutes after he had pulled off a great stop from a well struck shot, but the scorer was offside.
In the second half he had to make another good save from a free kick with the game balanced at 1-0 to the Bears before they sealed the result with two late goals.
Altrincham away in the Cheshire Senior Cup presented more of a problem with Craig forced to make two smart saves early on as the hosts pressed. With the Bears 2-0 up at half time, on the hour mark Craig made a crucial double save from close range to deny Alty their chance to get back into the game.
Another clean sheet followed in the cup win against Stone Dominoes before Craig conceded his only goal of the month in the 1-0 defeat at Irlam.
But two more clean sheets in 3-0 wins over Winsford United and City of Liverpool rounded another fine month for Craig, whose form in the opening months of the campaign sees him gain his third Reusch Goalkeeper of the Month award this season.
FIRST DIVISION NORTH - MIKE SMITH OF PRESTWICH HEYS
November was Mike’s first full month since returning as Heys’ first choice keeper and he was in excellent form throughout, playing in nine games in a busy month for the club.
Behind a defence that was in mean mood in November, barring one blip, Mike started by collecting a Man of the Match award at St Helens Town, a string of blocks and saves helping keep out the home side on numerous occasions.
He was again in defiant form in his side's Buildbase FA Vase tie against Northwich Victoria, making crucial saves in a goalless draw, and was only beaten by a late goal in the replay.
A further clean sheet was kept against Cleator Moor Celtic, and by the end of the month, Mike had played his part in a run that saw Heys record six wins and a draw in the nine games played.
FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - GEORGE AUSTIN OF ST MARTINS
George appeared in all seven games for St Martins in a busy November (six league and one cup game) and kept three clean sheets and earned two Man of the Match nominations in the process.
His impressive form is no surprise to anyone at the club, as his consistency has meant he has not missed a game for the club since April 2017.
During November George made some key saves at crucial stages in games, and played his part in helping the Saints team earn valuable points in what was a tough month, when they lost just twice in seven games.
