As well as being involved in the promotion chase at the top of Division One, Barnoldswick Town can now look forward to a cup final appearance - following their terrific win over Unibond League side Guiseley in the West Riding Cup semi final last Tuesday night.

After going behind just before half time, Barnoldswick equalised in the 67th minute through Craig Bradshaw, and with no further scoring in normal time or extra time, the tie was decided on penalties with Town winning by 4-2 in the shoot out.

Town's Programme Editor Peter Naylor said: "Guiseley actually played their first team who are currently 3rd in the Unibond Premier League, about 4 points off the top with games in hand. The win was all the more satisfying as we had our captain Russell Clarke unjustly in our opinion sent off after 30 minutes, so we played the remainder of normal time plus extra time with 10 men".

The club has since received a congratulatory message from Peter Marsden, the President of the West Riding FA, which read as follows:

"As President of The West Riding County F.A. I have not to show bias to any one club, however as President of The Craven Football Association I can extend my sincere congratulations to Barnoldswick Town F.C, players, officials and spectators for a brilliant night last night.

"Nerve wracking, awe inspiring, dedication are some of the phrases coming to mind, never have I seen a team work so hard to attain a deserved victory.

"My congratulations on being the first Craven F.A. club to reach the prestigious County Cup Final, I hope I will have the satisfaction of presenting the cup to a Craven Club".

Town will now face another Unibond League side, Garforth Town in the final, which will be played on the 14th April at County Headquarters, Woodlesford, Leeds.
