Continuity The Key At Runcorn Town

Runcorn Town returned to the top of the Premier Division table at the weekend with a 2-0 win at Maine Road.
It's the highest position they have ever reached in the non-league pyramid, and continues the success they have enjoyed since joining our league last season.
Although many factors have contributed to the club's recent progress, Secretary Martin Fallon believes one of the main factors in the club's success is the settled nature of the squad in the past few years.
Writing in Town's match programme for the game against Squires Gate, Martin expanded on his theory.
The secret of our success in our opinion is a really settled squad, with the majority of the squad ‘growing up' together on the field. A quick look through the statistics for players brings some astonishing reading, with six current players having played over 100 games for the club, including Danny Dalton, who now holds the all time appearance record under the Runcorn Town name with 164.
A further seven players have played over 50 games, with much of the rest of the players having joined very recently.
This is something that many teams in football strive for years to achieve with very few ever achieving it. Each addition that Simon and Salty bring in (manager Simon Burton and assistant Danny Salt) not only have to be as good or better than those we have but also have to fit in” in the dressing room.
I have been in and around dressing rooms for years, both at the club and at the old Runcorn AFC, and the team spirit and togetherness that exists at the club at present is the best I have ever known”.
