Weekend 12 in the NWCFL saw the First Round of the Isuzu FA Vase, with one Edward Case Cup game and a number of league games in all three divisions.

Isuzu FA Vase

Prestwich Heys were the big winners in the FA Vase as they romped to a 9-1 home victory over Maltby Main with Luke Byron grabbing a hat-trick. Burscough won 6-0 against Billingham Synthonia with Tom Peterson and Kian Bell both scoring twice. 

Ramsbottom United had a comfortable afternoon with a 3-0 win at home to Jarrow FC. It was also the same scoreline at Nelson as they overcame Harrogate Railway Athletic. There were also home wins for Ashton Town and Barnoldswick Town who overcame Darwen and AFC Liverpool respectively by the odd goal.

Thornton Cleveleys had a superb 3-1 win at First Division South leaders Runcorn Town, with Chadderton winning 2-1 at Eccleshill United. South Liverpool also won 2-1 at Northallerton Town with Droylsden doing likewise at Penistone Church.

Five games went to penalties, including a back and forth battle at Stafford Town for whom Matthew Hearsey scored a hat-trick. Stafford led 1-0, trailed 2-1 then led 3-2 before visitors Nuneaton Town made it 3-3 three minutes into stoppage time. It was Nuneaton who ran out winners 4-2 from the spot. The other saw Wythenshawe twice lead Holker Old Boys, with the Cumbrians also levelling three minutes into stoppage time before winning 4-3 on penalties.

Irlam led Shildon 1-0 before finding themselves 2-1 behind. An equaliser forced penalties with Irlam winning 5-4 from the spot. Charnock Richard scored in the seventh minute of stoppage time to draw 1-1 at Horbury Town before winning 4-3 on penalties. And Euxton Villa drew 1-1 at home to former NWCFL side Carlisle City before also winning 5-3 from the spot.

Edward Case Cup First Round

Ashville hosted Wolverhampton Casuals in the Edward Case Cup with the visitors taking a fourth minute lead. However Ashville hit back and progressed to the next round with a 2-1 win.

Premier Division

Leaders Padiham enjoyed a fine afternoon at home to Litherland REMYCA as they ran out 4-0 winners. West Didsbury & Chorlton took advantage of others in FA Vase action with a 1-0 win at Atherton LR lifting them up to second. 

William Proctor scored twice in stoppage time for Longridge Town who came from behind to secure an unlikely 2-1 win at home to Glossop North End (never leave early folks!). And City of Liverpool won 3-1 at Pilkington to move clear of the bottom two spots.

Stockport Town found themselves 2-0 down at home to Abbey Hey at half time, but hit back in the second half to secure a 2-2 draw. And it was honours even over at FC Isle of Man who led 2-0 over FC St Helens, the visitors hitting back through a Harry Scarborough brace to draw 2-2.

First Division North

Maghull moved to within a point of leaders Droylsden with an emphatic 7-0 win over Steeton, with Jacob Till scoring a hat-trick. Thornton Cleveleys also scored seven in a 7-1 win at Garstang, with six different goalscorers in that match. Bacup Borough also had a comfortable win, 4-0 at home to MSB Woolton.

Jack Coop twice put Maine Road ahead at Daisy Hill, with the home side hitting a stoppage time penalty to draw 2-2. Ashton Athletic led 2-0 after just five minutes at Squires Gate, although the home side also came back to draw 2-2.

First Division South

With leaders Runcorn Town in FA Vase action, Stockport Georgians missed the chance to move level on points with them after a 1-1 draw at Foley Meir. They led for much of the game but the home side hit back with nine minutes remaining to force a point. Telford Town are a point behind them in third, that after a 1-0 win over Market Drayton Town.

Eccleshall are fourth after a 2-1 win at Cheadle Heath Nomads. Barnton remain fifth but squandered the chance to move higher after losing 2-1 at Sandbach United who are a point off the play-off positions. Wolverhampton Sporting Community took a first minute lead at Haughmond before the home side hit back to lead 3-1. A stoppage time goal for Wolves made the final score 3-2. Cammell Laird 1907 won 2-0 at home to Allscott Heath.

The Macron Cup started on Friday evening with AFC Liverpool in action at home to Maghull. A first half brace from Elliot Taylor put the home side in control with Caleb Jones adding a third before the hour mark to see them through. Jamie Nicholson added a consolation for the visitors.

Into Saturday action and there were a number of First Division sides upsetting Premier Division opponenets. Holders Barnoldswick Town are out having lost 3-0 at AFC Blackpool for whom James Hughes scored twice. Second half goals from Jonathan Liddle and Lucas Wilson gave MSB Woolton a 2-0 win at FC St Helens with perhaps the result of the day coming at Padiham where the home side lost 6-0 to Nelson, Luke Hepple scoring twice for the Admirals.

Kacper Mikulski hit a hat-trick for Sandbach United in their 5-0 win at Foley Meir. Victor Abadaki scored twice for West Didsbury & Chorlton in front of the biggest crowd of the day of 952, with West beating Abbey Hey 4-0. William Osborne also hit a brace for Telford Town in their 3-1 win at Eccleshall with Kai Shorrock doing likewise in their 3-1 win at Colne. There was also two goals for Rory Alldis as Cammell Laird 1907 beat Wolverhampton Casuals 3-2.

Another brace came for Prestwich Heys' Louis Holt at Ramsbottom United, however it was the home side who progressed with a 2-0 win. Thornton Cleveleys twice came from behind at Garstang to win 3-2 with Cheadle Town winning 2-1 at Maine Road. Chadderton won 1-0 at New Mills with Runcorn Town doing likewise at home to Allscott Heath.

Two games were settled by penalties. Atherton LR and Burscough drew 1-1 with the Linnets winning 5-3 from the spot. City of Liverpool twice came from behind at home to Charnock Richard to draw 2-2, but it was the visitors who progressed winning 3-1 on penalties.

Premier Division 

In league action, FC Isle of Man put a bit of daylight between themselves and the relegation places after a 3-1 win at Litherland REMYCA. Pilkington jumped up five places to ninth after a 2-0 win over Glossop North End. Wythenshawe are now fourth after a 2-1 win at home to Stockport Town. And Longridge Town and South Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw.

First Division North

Leaders Droylsden are four points clear of the pack, but they spurned a glorious chance to increase this as they went down 1-0 at home to Holker Old Boys, Tom Dawson's goal coming four minutes into stoppage time. Holker are up to second after that win, with Ashton Town now fourth after a 2-1 home win against Steeton. 

Joshua Nicholson hit a hat-trick for Ashton Athletic in their 4-0 win over Bacup Borough, all the goals coming in the second half in that game. Whilst Dean Ing was on target twice for Squires Gate in their 3-0 derby win over Fulwood Amateurs.

The final game saw Daisy Hill throw away a two goal lead at home to Darwen, but they were thankful to Ntumba Massanka who scored in the ninth minute of stoppage time to give the Cutters a 3-2 win.

First Division South

There were just five games in the South division but these yielded a whopping 27 goals, with seven coming at the Sundorne Sports Village as Haughmond beat Barnton 4-3. The home side led 1-0 and 2-1 before finding themselves 3-2 down, however a brace from Ethan Pickford - the second a last minute penalty - gave them all three points.

Stafford Town led 2-0 at home to Ashville, however the visitors hit back with Joseph Dulson scoring a hat-trick to give them a 3-2 win. Luke Nicholls also scored a hat-trick for Alsager Town in their 4-1 win at Market Drayton Town.

Cheadle Heath Nomads beat Shawbury United 3-2, with the final game ending 4-1 to Stockport Georgians in a comfortable win over Wolverhampton Sporting Community.
