NWCFL August League Games in Numbers

Premier Division 

50 games were played of which there were twenty home wins, twenty away wins and just two 0-0 draws. 1874 Northwich were top scorers with 17, whilst Litherland REMYCA only managed 2. Rylands and Northwich Victoria had the best defences, conceding 3 each. Six players hit hat-tricks and Jake Parker (1874) and Paul Turner (Longridge ) were leading scorers with Six each, while a total of 111 players found the net. 187 goals scored in total, at an average of 3.74. Northwich Vics scored 8 at home to Litherland REMYCA, Squires Gate, Banoldswick and Irlam all hit 4 away from home. 

Paul McManus (Runcorn Town) was penalty King with three, ten were scored in total and three teams benefitted from Own Goals.  

1874 had the best attendance (403) for their game v Winsford whilst Squires Gate v Burscough was the lowest with 71, the average was a healthy 166 and total attendance was 8,315. 

Division One North 

68 games were played, with thirty six home wins and 21 away wins. Just one 0-0 draw. Lower Breck hit an amazing 26 goals in their 8 games. Prestwich Heys had the meanest defence, conceding just 7. Five players recorded hat-tricks. Dylan Glass (Ashton Town) was leading scorer with 8 in 6 games, whilst a total of 139 players actually found the net. Thirteen penalties were scored, Rob Bordman (Emley AFC) and Jack Coop (Nelson) both hit two. Eight Own Goals were netted. 254 goals were scored in total, an average of 3.85 per game. AFC Liverpool hit 7 at home to Daisy Hill whilst AFC Darwen hit 6 at Holker Old Boys. 

Best attendance was the 544 that saw Emley AFC v Golcar, lowest was 40 and the average was 107, total attendance was 7,111.   

Division One South 

67 games saw 31 home wins, 29 away wins, 6 draws with just 1  0-0 draw. Vauxhall Motors equalled Lower Breck’s 26 goals whilst FC Oswestry were a close second with 25. Best defence belonged to West Didsbury and Chorlton, just 3 goals were let in. This was the division for hat-tricks, ten being struck, two of which were four goal hauls; Luke Blondel (Cammell Laird 1907) and David Ablewhite (Stone Old Alleynians). The former also led the league goals with 8, a total of 123 players ‘stretched the net’. 22 Penalties were despatched, Karl Noon (Vauxhall Motors) led the way with 4. Six Own Goals were struck. A total of 248 goals saw an average of 3.7 per game. Eccleshall hit 9 at home to Ellesmere Rangers and Vauxhall Motors, 8 at home to New Mills. Away from home Wythenshawe Town hit 7 at Cheadle Town. 

Best Attendance was the 313 who witnessed West Didsbury and Chorlton draw with Wythenshawe Town. Lowest was 32. A total of 7,029 spectators saw the games, with an average of 104.
