MACRON PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
PREMIER DIVISION - TROY CARSLEY OF CHARNOCK RICHARD
Since joining Charnock Richard from West Lancashire League Premier Division side Fulwood Amateurs in October 2018, midfielderTroy Carsley has adapted well to Hallmark Security League football.
Indeed, he has grown in confidence as the season has progressed and enjoyed his best spell for Charnock Richard during January 2019. Troy has never played at this level before but has proved that he is capable of playing his football at Step-5 in the National League System.
He took part in all five Premier Division games played by the 'Villagers' during the month, winning man of the match awards from three opposition clubs.
He enjoyed a fine game at Mossie Park on the 5th January against an improving Abbey Hey and won the award again against Runcorn Town on the 19th. He followed this up a week later following a solid performance at Congleton Town on the 26th.
Troy never gives anything less that 100% and has proved a valuable acquisition to the Charnock Richard cause.
FIRST DIVISION NORTH - JASON HART OF LONGRIDGE TOWN
Jason Hart played four games for Longridge Town in January, scoring nine goals in that period.
In his first game in January against Daisy Hill, Jay was absolutely unstoppable and was relentless for 90 minutes. He was rewarded with a five goal haul in Town’s 8-1 victory in a midweek game under floodlights.
Jay obviously wanted more, and followed that up with a hat trick in Town’s 6-2 win in the next game away at AFC Darwen. Jay’s match play in these two games was of the highest standard, and provided the spectators with some brilliant football.
In the next home game, Jay continued him impressive form and interacted brilliantly with Richie Allen and Tom Ince up front against a resilient Chadderton side. All three players got on the scoresheet, and Jay was instrumental in all three goals.
In the final game of January at AFC Blackpool, Jay set up Richie Allen with the equalising goal in a tough 1-1 draw, bringing a fine month of performances to an end.
FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - LEON WRIGHT OF BARNTON
In the month that Leon hit the ripe age of 17, he made a real impact. He played in all three games in January, scored two of Barnton's five goals and picked up two Man of the match nominations.
The goal scored in the opening game of the month against Stockport Town was a very calmly taken strike from a tight angle, and secured all three points.
His second goal of the month, against Alsager Town, was an even sweeter strike, when he took a good touch out of his feet and struck the ball from around 20 yards to see it neatly nestle in the top corner.
In both games he picked up man of the match nominations, fitting recognition for Leon, who has had a fine start to his career with the club.
REUSCH GOALKEEPER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
PREMIER DIVISION - MARTIN PEARSON OF ASHTON ATHLETIC
Martin left December behind with three consecutive clean sheets and continued this fantastic form in the month of January.
During the month, he played in four games, kept two clean sheets, picked up one Man of the Match award and only conceded three goals. His form was a major reason why Athletic had a 100% winning record and were top of the form tables.
Martin was unlucky to concede in the opening game of the month against Winsford United but saw his team victorious in a 4-1 win. His usual calm, assured performance had looked like earning him a clean sheet but a late, unstoppable goal proved otherwise.
His best performance was in the 2-0 victory at home to Northwich Victoria. Not only did he pick up a clean sheet, his fourth in the last five games, but he also collected the Man of the Match award from the opposition, a fine achievement against free-scoring Vics.
During the game Martin continually foiled the away attack; first, making two superb one-on-one stops in the first half and then later producing four fantastic saves to keep his clean sheet. After a spell of continuous pressure from Vics in the second half, he commanded his box superbly.
His second clean sheet of the month arrived at home to Litherland REMYCA. Pressure from the away side resulted in Martin having to make a number of smart saves in the first half, giving his team the platform of which to go on and win the game. Once again, he totally commanded his box from set pieces and turned in a superb display.
Although unlucky to concede two goals in the final fixture of the month, Martin played a crucial role in helping his side achieve a 100% record in the month, and take home a 4-2 victory from Burscough. A pivotal save in the first half stopped the home side taking the lead, when Martin made a fantastic save low down to his left in a one-on-one that had many in the ground asking ‘how’! In terrible conditions for a keeper Martin’s handling was superb.
Martin has played a vital role in helping his team achieve a 100% record in January and is certainly deserving of the award.
FIRST DIVISION NORTH - LEE CARR OF AFC LIVERPOOL
Lee was an ever-present in January, keeping three clean sheets in the four games he played, and the only goal he conceded was in the eighty fourth minute of the final game of the month against Shelley.
Lee’s first game of 2019 was against an in-form Nelson side, who had won Club of the Month following an unbeaten December. It was a tight game settled by a single goal, and Lee marshalled his defence brilliantly, and maintained his concentration to ensure he was able to make important saves when called into action.
Next up were Prestwich Heys, another in-form side who were one place above AFC Liverpool in the league table.
Again Lee kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory, making a top class save with the score goalless and displaying instinctive positional sense and secure handling when bravely dealing with crosses and corners.
The following Tuesday the Reds made the 286 mile round trip to Cleator Moor Celtic. There was an emotional resonance to this fixture as it had been postponed in December following the sudden death of the club's joint manager Ben Williams.
The team put on a great display from the first minute to the last, winning 4-0, and again Lee’s powers of concentration were tested but he again made big saves when called into action.
His growing confidence had clearly rubbed off on the defenders in front of him who no longer looked back if a ball got beyond them.
The final game of the month was at home to Shelley. The Reds cruised into a 3-0 lead but following a couple of injuries that disrupted the rhythm, Shelley took a grip of the game giving Lee his busiest 30 minutes of the month.
As the weather worsened, he was called into action and was equal to everything. Lee was only six minutes away from his fourth consecutive clean sheet, when an unstoppable strike from 20 yards curled over his outstretched hand and nestled in the back of the net. The disappointment in Lee’s face was palpable!
Lee is just 18 and has had to mature as a goalkeeper in the full glare of the supporters who sometimes vented their feelings, as early season results went against us. It’s a testament to his strength of character and commitment that he has trained hard, listened to his coaches and is now one of the most consistent keepers in the league.
FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - KRISTOFER LEIGH OF VAUXHALL MOTORS
Since making his first starting appearance for the Motormen at the end of September, Kristofer has continued to improve each month.
His form in January was key to the club's fine performances during the month, in which they won all four of the games they played, scoring 17 with just one goal conceded.
After keeping three clean sheets in the first three games of the month against Alsager Town, Stone Dominoes and Rylands, Kristofer was beaten for the only time in the month in the 62nd minute of the final game of the month against Cheadle Heath Nomads.
Kristofer is a commanding keeper, who dominates his area, and has become more vocal with each passing game. His fine performances in January show that he is now living up to the potential that has been evident for some time.

MACRON PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
