1874 Northwich FC have established an Under 21 team which will play in The Cheshire Under 21 County League Grassroots Division from next season.

Board member Alex Dickinson, responsible for Youth Development, said: "One of 1874’s stated objectives within our  business plan is to develop a long-term strategy regarding the possible creation of both 1874 Northwich junior and women’s teams.

"In developing and creating an U21 team this is the first stage in that strategy. Under 21 football is an area which is currently under-represented both locally and nationally, a fact also recognised by Cheshire FA who set up the U21’s league structure last season.

"The creation of an U21 team will provide the opportunity for boys within that age group to continue their football progress and maybe offer a route into senior football.

Josh Hoare, who currently manages a local U18’s side will manage the team with his father Alan acting as assistant manager. Both are qualified FA coaches. Alex Dickinson will act as secretary. Home games will be played at Moss Farm in Northwich.

Sponsorship of the side has been secured with a local company Your Life Your Way which is an agency based in Northwich that provides support to older people and people living with disabilities.  An application to the Football Foundation’s Grow the Game scheme also saw the club being awarded a grant for £1500.
