Having been in charge for two games, new Eccleshall manager Shaun Hollinshead insists that he is not looking to make wholesale changes to the playing squad.

Despite being at the bottom of the Division One table, Shaun says that what he has seen so far suggests that the squad he has inherited has the ability and attitude he is looking for, and is upbeat about the challenges he faces in moving the team up the table.

"The win last week against Northwich Flixton Villa proved that hard work does bring its own rewards", said Shaun. "We were very pleased that the players took on board what we expected. and responded in an enthusiastic and professional manner.

"We understand the job we have taken is going to be difficult as the league position shows results will need to improve. We may look to bring in players who may improve the team, but this does not mean existing players will not be given a chance.

"To me, age is no barrier. It is about effort, ability, attitude and desire, and if players show these attributes in abundance, the results and performances will improve".

Of course, Shaun, along with his assistants Dave Johnson and Phil Bath, collectively have plenty of experience of non-league football in the Potteries. While at Stone Dominoes, Shaun led the club to the NWCFL Division One title in 2009-10, and helped them maintain their Premier Division status.

He then joined Evo-Stik League Division One South side Kidsgrove Athletic last summer to replace previous manager Peter Ward, but left towards the end of last season, and believes that the experience will stand in him in good stead as he looks to build a successful team at Pershall Park.

"After our experiences last season, it has come as a refreshing change to come to a club so welcoming and with such a homely feel to it", said Shaun.

"Last season in charge of Kidsgrove Athletic was an experience that, from the football point of view, was exciting and challenging. Unfortunately the non-football issues tainted the experience.

"However, we are now wiser for the opportunity Kidsgrove gave to us, and hope to take this knowledge into our job at Eccleshall.

"The present squad does lack experience, however, the youthful exuberance they have shown has been refreshing, and has given us plenty to think about".
