A fire has caused serious damage at the Town Ground, home of Alsager Town.

The areas affected include most of the club house, office and part of the newly refurbished away team changing rooms

Town Press Officer John Shenton said:

Neighbours to the football club noticed flames coming from the football club building and alerted the emergency services around 11.30pm on Monday night. When Cheshire Fire & Rescue arrived on the scene the building was well alight.

The fire crews apparently left the scene at around 4am on Tuesday 12th July. Police and Fire investigation officers attended the scene during Tuesday morning along with Scenes of Crime forensic experts.

Following a detailed search of the building no certain cause could be given, neither electrical fault nor arson could be ruled out. The building has been cordoned off due to asbestos worries.

A further press release will be issued as and when new information is available.”
