New Signing For Ramsbottom United

Ramsbottom United have made their first signing of the new season by securing the services of former Atherton LR manager Glenn Moses. Glenn will join the backroom staff and assist head coach John Hunter with the team.
Glenn, who led the Crilly Park club to a commendable tenth place in the Premier Division of the North West Counties League as well as back-to-back Bolton Hospitals Cup triumphs in 2010 and 2011 before resigning at the end of the season, comes with a wealth of coaching experience and will add plenty to the squad, who met up for the first time in pre-season on Tuesday 28th June.
Co-manager Anthony Johnson was delighted that, with the exception of last season's Player of the Year Grant Shenton, who has returned to his parent club FC United of Manchester in an effort to become their goalkeeping number one (and everyone at Ramsbottom United wishes him well and thanks him for his extraordinary efforts in the Rammy net last season), every single player who finished the season in which the Rams finished runners-up, was in evidence at the training session.
"It is great news when six of our players were being approached from clubs one or two leagues higher," the co-manager said. "But that goes to show what the players think of the club and that they are willing to stay and give us the best chance of securing promotion from the North West Counties League this season."
The likes of Gary Stopforth, Andy Dawson, Ian Flannery, Danny Warrender, Phil Dean and Dominic Smalley have all been contacted with regards to a move away from the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium but they were all present at the opening training session along with seven trialists, all of whom greatly interested the management pairing of Johnson and Bernard Morley.
Also present at the session was Ryan Moore, who indicated that he was moving to Thailand at the end of last season but has decided against the switch and has committed himself to the club for another season.
"I think the whole philosophy of the club has changed over the last few months and people want to be involved," added Johnson. "When people see the hard work going into the team and around the ground, people want to be involved and that is great news for us."
The club have also announced that the Ramsbottom United Supporters Association is to be reformed in the next few weeks, helping the club look into sponsorship streams, initiatives to raise the profile of the club and also attract new members and arrange social events.
A previous R.U.S.C. ran successfully over a number of years but, after a four year absence, it was decided to rekindle the interest and form a body in which the supporters could assist the club in various money making and profile raising activities.
