Two In And One Out At Formby

Formby manager Gary Martindale has moved swiftly to make additions to his squad following the loss of John Paul Kissock to Southport.

Kissock made an immediate impact at Altcar Road, and following a series of impressive displays the former Everton player moved to Haig Avenue last weekend.

Formby manager Gary Martindale told the Formby Times:  "We must be doing something right if we can attract players with the ability of John Paul. I had a good chat with him in the summer when an awful lot of clubs took him on trial and were having a look at him. But not one took the chance and understandably the boy was a bit down.

"So I said if he didn't get anywhere then he should just come and play for us and get a smile back on his face. He had to look forward, he can't turn back the clock so had to get back to enjoying his football. John Paul was doing that and got his head down and showed so much ability. He is a fantastic football player and we are all delighted for the lad. We wish him all the best and he should be playing at a higher level."

In the meantime, Martindale swooped to sign Leigh Genesis pair John Lawless and Adam Farley.  Lawless left Formby in the summer to play for Northern Premier League side Leigh Genesis, and despite only arriving at Altcar Road in January, he was the club's top goalscorer last season.

John has significant shared history with Gary Martindale as they played together for Burscough, and were the forwards who created and scored the goals in the high point of the club's history, the 2003 FA Trophy win.

Adam Farley, a defender, came up through Everton's ranks as a schoolboy and subsequently played in their reserves, while briefly featuring in the first team squad.

Both new signings are former Marine players.
