Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Draw

The FA have today released the draws for the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Of the 19 Premier Division clubs that entered the Emirates FA Cup this season, we are down to just three, with a replay tomorrow evening seeing which team will join Trafford in the Second Qualifying round.
Trafford's reward for winning at Bamber Bridge will be a trip to Northern Premier League East side Heaton Stannington. They have had a decent start to the season with just one loss from their opening five matches in the league, as well as beating Kendal Town (after a replay) and Knaresborough Town in the Emirates FA Cup. They did bow out of the FA Trophy against last seasons NWCFL Champions Wythenshawe.
Trafford themselves though have had a good start also, winning eight of the nine matches that they have played so far this season. They are in seventh place in the table but have games in hand on all teams above them due to their FA Cup exploits.
It was only last season that Trafford reached the Second Qualifying Round stage when they lost to Nantwich Town, but we have to go back 13 years to the 2013/14 season for the last time they reached the Third Qualifying Round. That season saw them produce a giant killing act to knock out Altrincham before bowing out to Corby Town.
South Liverpool and Prestwich Heys played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday and will try again in a replay tomorrow night to join Trafford in the next round. The winners will face an away tie at either Shildon or Warrington Town.
Shildon and Warrington also played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday and will try again tomorrow night. Both of these sides have had good starts to the season with Shildon in third place in the Northern League Division One with seven wins from nine games. Warrington are two divisions higher in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, and sit in fourth place having lost just one of their opening eight league games.
There is a lot riding on the replay tomorrow for South and Heys as it would open up a chance to make history for both sides. The last time Prestwich reached the Second Qualifying Round was back in the 1983/84 season when they lost 1-0 to Southport. Its a little more recent for South but still over a quarter of a century ago, their last Second Qualifying Round appearance coming back in the 1990/91 season when they lost to Hyde United.
Ties will be played on Saturday 19th September 2026.
