Ahead of their recent home game with Vauxhall Motors, Cheadle Town were presented with a double set of awards by NWCFL Committee Member Ian Williams.
The first was for Club of the Month for January 2020. Cheadle started the month with a 1-0 win at home to Sandbach United, followed by a 2-1 win at New Mills. Two-midweek games followed, with a 2-1 home win against West Didsbury & Chorlton followed by a 3-1 away win at Abbey Hulton United. Their fifth win of the month came on the final Saturday when they won the Derby match against Stockport Town 2-1. They completed the month unbeaten as they dropped points for the first time in the month, drawing 2-2 away at Maine Road.
The second was for winning the First Division South RESPECT award for the first third of the season.
After each match in the League, each club completes a simple form which assesses the matchday experience under 12 different category headings. We add in some information which comes from the match referee and then through a series of calculations, we arrive at a "rating" for each club.
Whichever club comes out with the highest rating in their Division wins the award, although this is subject to any misconduct charges which may have arisen for that club during the period under consideration. The data is collated and a Respect award presented three times per season, with Cheadle coming out top of the clubs in the division for the August to October period.
Congratulations to Cheadle Town for both awards.
