The midweek NWCFL action was a bit of a damp squid following storm Brendon's attack on the region with just a handful of scheduled games going ahead.

On Tuesday evening in the Cheshire Senior Cup 2nd Round, Sandbach United exited the competition as they lost 4-1 to Northern Premier League Premier Division side Warrington Town.

Whilst in the NWCFL Premier Division, Ashton Athletic held off Burscough 3-1, and Skelmersdale United came from behind hitting a late 89th-minute winner, beating Congleton Town 2-1.

Just 24 hours later, just four games went ahead. Irlam advanced into the Semi-Final of the Manchester Premier Cup as they disaptached fellow NWCFL side Maine Road 4-1.

Whilst in the NWCFL top flight, Whitchurch Alport moved up to 8th in the table with a 3-0 win away at bottom side Litherland REMYCA.

Int he First Division North Atherton LR and Bacup Borough shared the points with a 1-1 draw, meanwhile in the South division, Cheadle Town narrowed the gap to the promotion places to ten points following a 2-1 victory over fellow promottee hopefuls West Didsbury & Chorlton.

The action returns on Saturday in the NWCFL with eight top-flight games, ten First Division North ties and nine First Division South fixtures.
