EMIRATES FA CUP
The NWCFL had just three teams remaining in the Emirates FA Cup as the First Qualifying Round took place, and all three will be in the hat for Monday's draw following their results on Saturday.
Trafford travelled to Bamber Bridge who play two divisions higher in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, and trailed by a solitary goal at the break. Ten minutes into the second half Lewis Jacklin levelled the tie, with Dillon Edmundson putting Trafford ahead with just under 20 minutes to go. Bridge pushed for an equaliser and were caught in stoppage time when Trafford were awarded a penalty, with Edmunson converting to give his side a 3-1 win and a place in the next round.
The other two sides faced each other as South Liverpool took on Prestwich Heys. Jack Bentley put South ahead on 26 minutes but it was level at the break with Luke Findlow replying before half time. South then regained the lead ten minutes into the second half thanks to Owen Dursley, and it looked like South were good value for a place in the next round. That was until two minutes into stoppage time when Ellis Richardson found another equaliser for Heys, with a 2-2 draw meaning a replay is required on Tuesday evening.
PREMIER DIVISION .
Glossop North End are the new leaders in the Premier Division after a convincing win away at Longridge Town. An Alex Bowker double put them two goals ahead in the first 20 minutes with Longridge pulling one back before half time. The second half though was one way traffic with five goals scored by Glossop without reply to give them a 7-1 win. Ethan Sutcliffe scored the last two goals to give himself a brace also.
Level on points with Glossop are Chadderton, who won 1-0 at FC St Helens thanks to Jordan Lazenbury's goal 20 minutes from time. That's three consecutive wins for Chaddy now, all without conceding a goal.
Newly promoted Nelson are just a point off the pace after a 6-1 home win against AFC Liverpool. Sefton Gonzales scored twice in the opening 17 minutes to put the Admirals in control, with Luke Hepple helping himself to a second half hat-trick as his team went six goals up. Liverpool's consolation came in stoppage time from the penalty spot.
Burscough are fourth after being held to a 1-1 draw at FC Isle of Man. They went ahead through Caleb Jones goal after just three minutes, with Charlie Higgins levelling for the Ravens with a minute to go. They are sixth in the table, one of three clubs on 12 points.
The final play-off spot at present is held by Droylsden who ran out 2-0 winners in their local derby match with Abbey Hey.
Irlam ran out 2-0 winners at home to Ramsbottom United, with Barnoldswick Town winning 1-0 at Charnock Richard. The final game saw Litherland REMYCA and Euxton Villa play out a goalless draw.
FIRST DIVISION NORTH
It was a big day for AFC Knowsley who played their first game at home since coming up to the NWCFL against Ashville. Benjamin Taylor scored their first home goal after just eight minutes with Daniel Bulayima adding to it ten minutes later. Ashville pulled one back before half time through Ben Greenop, and it proved vital with the Villians going on to hit three goals in the second half to complete a fine 4-2 comeback win.
Maghull remain top but wasted a glorious opportunity to increase their lead as they went down 1-0 at Thornton Cleveleys. The Flyde Coats side are up to second, four points behind Maghull, with Ben Duffield getting the only goal after just 18 minutes.
Cammell Laird 1907 are seemingly enjoying life in the North, consolidating third place after a 2-1 home win against Daisy Hill. Darwen and Holker Old Boys make up the play-off spots and are just a point behind Lairds. Darwen beat Garstang 3-2, Kalvin Morris with a brace for Darwen with Kit Lloyd hitting a late winner. Holker lost the chance to move higher as they went down 4-1 at home to Maine Road, Calvin Harper hitting two goals in stoppage time for the visitors.
Ashton Athletic led Halewood Apollo 2-0 after 20 minutes thanks to Josh Nicholson's brace. However Halewood turned it around and hit the winner in the 89th minute through Charlie Glennon. Another game sealed late on was Colne's win at Squires Gate, with Barney Wiggin scoring his side's second goal in stoppage time to give them a 2-0 win.
Cian Donohue scored twice as Flixton beat Steeton 3-1 with Kaiden Barlow also scoring twice for Bacup Borough in their 2-1 win over AFC Blackpool. Ashton Town beat Uppermill 2-0, with Fulwood Amateurs winning 1-0 against Woolton.
FIRST DIVISION SOUTH
Leaders AFC Bridgnorth romped to the biggest win of the day in the First Division South, a 4-0 home win against Shawbury United making it six wins from seven games. They are a point ahead of the chasing pack with a game in hand on all of them.
That chasing pack sees Sandbach United in second just a point behind, and they had Robbie Hatton to thank for a 1-0 win at Brereton Social, that goal coming two minutes into stoppage time.
Eccleshall are third after a 3-2 win over Dawley Town, with Stafford Town and Wolverhampton Casuals a point further back to complete the play-off spots. Stafford beat Allscott Heath 2-1 at home, whilst Casuals saw Kieran Cook hit a hat-trick in their 3-3 draw with Bilston Town. Bilston led that game early on before Cook put his side two goals ahead, however Bilston hit back for a point.
It was a case of never leave early at Market Drayton Town in their game with Cheadle Heath Nomads. Drayton led 1-0 until 20 minutes from time when Nomads levelled. Nomads then went ahead in the 88th minute through Chigozie Ewelike before Oliver Griffiths levelled two minutes later. Shaun Rowley then made a stunning save to keep Nomads out before Durell Manhertz hit a stoppage time winner for Drayton.
Another 3-2 win came at Wednesfield Community who beat Telford Town. Wednesfield went ahead before Telford turned things around, and it was 2-2 at the break. However a late winner from Tyler Bishop gave Wednesfield all three points.
Barnton led Foley Meir 2-1 but had to settle for a point with another late goal, Luke Lewis rescuing a point for Foley three minutes into stoppage time.
The final game saw Crewe win 1-0 at Alsager Town, an Own Goal the difference between the two sides.
