Silsden have landed a prestigious pre-season fixture against Bradford City, at the ASDA Foundation Stadium on Wednesday 13th July.

The game will kick off at 7.45 pm.

The Bantams' newly appointed manager and ex-City player Peter Jackson has promised to bring his first team squad for what will be the City's first pre-season game. Peter, a Keighley lad, almost signed for the Cobbydalers Under 17's when he was a youngster but chose to join Bingley Juniors instead before moving into the professional game.

The Cobbydalers are preparing for a bumper crowd as much interest has been shown by the City fans and also in the more local area. Cobbydalers' Chairman, Sean McNulty, said: This is the kind of fixture which we hoped to bring to the ground, once we became established back at Silsden after our seven year exile at Cougar Park. It's going to take some organising but with everyone pulling together we hope to showcase what is going on at Silsden."

Historically, the match will be the Diamond Jubilee of Bradford`s last visit to Silsden, almost 60 years to the month.  On that occasion the Cobbydalers lost 1 – 2 with current Silsden Life-President Arthur Tillotson scoring their goal.

The club has been able to source photographs of the players who took part in the game, one of which is shown below, and they are hoping to have a parade of the old players who played in that game from both sides.  So far, they have located five of the Silsden team, and are trying to locate two more, in addition to representatives from Bradford City.

Barry Thomas is putting the programme together for the game, and is looking for any details of the 1951 game to put in the programme, to add to the information gathered already.  Barry can be contacted on silsdenafc@hotmail.com or 07836 610 162.
