The North West Counties Football League has sought clarity from The FA regarding relegation positions in the First Division South following the resignation of Ellesmere Rangers prior to the start of the current playing season. As Ellesmere Rangers were members of the League at the League AGM in June, they are considered members for this season despite resigning. As a result, they will be added to the First Division South League table and will officially occupy the bottom place within the division. This is now reflected in the League tables from today.

As a result of Droysden switching from the First Division North to the South Division following Ellesmere Ranger’s resignation, the League also asked for clarity on any impact this may have on relegation from the First Division North. As The FA consider the Droylsden switch to be an internal transfer, this has no impact on the relegation positions within this division, with the bottom three sides all being considered in a relegation position, with the bottom club being relegated and other others being subject to relegation subject to the maximum number of sides at Step 6 being fulfilled.
