Cleator Moor Celtic presented a cheque to AFC Liverpool Chairman Chris Stirrup prior to the game between the two clubs last weekend, in memory of former AFC Liverpool joint-manager Ben Williams.

Celtic were due to host AFC Liverpool in an evening game last month, when news broke that Ben had passed away suddenly, and the game was postponed as a mark of respect.

Celtic's Club Secretary Herbert Briggs said: "It was a tragic day for all at AFC Liverpool and our thoughts went out to them and Ben's family. It affected us and we wanted to do something in his memory, although we never knew him.

"We are a football family, and at our game against Longridge Town we held a collection and raised £250.

"It transpired that AFC Liverpool's first home game after the tragic news was against us last Saturday, and Tony Stones and Martin Mahone presented a cheque for the money collected to AFC Liverpool chairman Chris Stirrup on behalf of our club, which in memory of Ben was donated to the British Heart Foundation.

"I would like to thank all from both clubs who donated and made this possible".
