The draw has been made this lunchtime for the Semi Finals of the Buildbase FA Vase, with 1874 Northwich facing off against Hellenic League side Thatcham Town over two legs for a place at Wembley in May.

1874 booked their place in the last four of the competition on Saturday with a 1-0 with at Leighton Town thanks to Scott McGowan's first half penalty. It was their second successive 1-0 win in the competition after beating Chichester City in the Fifth Round, but they struggled early on. An extra time win over Vauxhall Motors in the First Qualifying Round was followed by a replay win over Congleton in the Second Qualifying Round. Wins against Irlam, Tow Law Town and Ashton Athletic put them into the Fourth Round for the first time in their history, with a 3-1 win over Pontefract Collieries setting up the Chichester City tie.

Thatcham Town play in the Hellenic League and are currently second in the league, five points behind leaders Highworth Town with a game in hand. They played in the Wessex League for many years before achieving promotion to the Southern League (equivalent to Evostik League) in 2006, but after an eight year stay, they were relagated to the Hellenic League four years ago. They have finished second and fourth in their league in the last two seasons, and are currently on a 24 game unbeaten run.

They are long time entrants into the FA Vase, first entering in 1975/76 and reaching the Quarter Finals in 1988/89. They never played in the competition whilst in the Southern League, playing in the FA Trophy instead but never getting out of the qualifying rounds, and since rejoining the FA Vase three years ago, the Third Round is their best run. They have never played a Hallmark Security League side before.

In the Vase this season, they received a bye to the First Round after finishing top four last season, and it has been a straight forward run of games for them as they have won every tie at the first attempted. They've been helped with five successive home ties, beating Horsham YMCA, Broadbridge Heath, Sevenoaks Town, Biggleswade and Bromsgrove Sporting at their Waterside Park home. They reached the Semi Finals with a 1-0 win at Melksham Town with Ekow Elliott's 89th minute goal separating the two teams.

Ties will be played over the weekend's of Saturday 17th March and Saturday 24th March, with Thatcham Town at home in the first leg.
