Maine Road FC have sadly announced the passing of Ron Meredith. Ron had been involved with the club for over 60 years, first joining as a player, and subsequently becoming 1st Team Manager. He then became Chairman, stepping down 3 years ago due to ill health.
He was the driving force behind the club moving from Sunday football to Saturday football when joining the Manchester League and then gaining promotion to the North West Counties League. Ron also made a huge contribution to the development of their ground including the erection of floodlights in order to achieve his goal of North West Counties football. He will be greatly missed by everyone connected with Maine Road FC.
The NWCFL Board of Directors, Management Committee, League Officers and on behalf of the Member Clubs send their condolences to the club and Ron’s family and friends at this sad time.
