League Stats and Milestone Update to Saturday 2nd December 2023

Another bad week for results and stats. Just eight league games were completed in the last seven days, and so…

Overall Stats

  • Squires Gate’s fine win against the Isle of Man was their 400th in the league.

Current Teams: League Records

Four of the current sixty teams have competed in every NWCFL season since the foundation of the league in 1982: AFC Blackpool (originally Blackpool Mechanics until 2008), Bacup Borough, Chadderton and Daisy Hill

Daisy Hill is the only one to have never competed in the top division.

Bacup Borough have the played the most games with 1,525, followed by Chadderton (1,489) then AFC Blackpool (1,471). Daisy Hill is sixth with 1,421.

In addition to the four ‘Life Members’, eight others were there in the beginning but have been promoted or relegated out and then come back at some stage:

Ashton Town, Atherton LR, Burscough, Nelson, Padiham, Prestwich Heys, Skelmersdale Utd and Winsford Utd.

Cheadle Town joined the league at the start of it’s second season in ’83.

Looking at win percentages, teams with at least 100 games played, Bury FC are top with 66% from their 109 games, followed by Wythenshawe (60%), Wythenshawe Town (59%), Sandbach (55%) and Charnock Richard (54%).

Leading the way with goals scored per game for teams with 100 matches or more are Wythenshawe Town with an average of 2.41, then Charnock Richard (2.35), Longridge Town (2.34), Wythenshawe (2.32) and Lower Breck (2.26).

Hopefully, the next seven days will bring much needed games … stay tuned.
