New manager at Garstang

Garstang have announced the appointment of Andy Payton to the role of First Team Manager with immediate effect following an exhaustive selection process.

Andy comes to the club following a long professional playing career at Hull City, Middlesbrough, Celtic, Barnsley, Huddersfied and Burnley. During his fantastic career, Andy made 588 appearances and scored 226 goals in the process.

Following retirement Andy moved into coaching and has had spells at Colne, Padiham and recently as 1st team Coach at Hallmark Security Premier League side Northwich Victoria. Andy holds a UEFA A Coaching License.

Garstang Chairman Adrian Wilding commented: "This is a great day for the football club, the club sponsors and of course our supporters and players having secured the services of a highly motivated, hugely respected, stand out coach who will be able to build on the progress of recent seasons and drive the club forward."

Andy Payton said: "I am excited at the prospect of joining such a progressive and successful Football Club and I will be looking forward to working with the strong playing squad already in place.

"My objective is to build on the club's excellent debut season last year in the Hallmark Security League and push Garstang FC on to the next level."
