It is with regret we have to report the death of former Colne FC manager Nigel Coates.

Nigel was a member of the Colne Dynamoes team that won the FA Vase at Wembley in 1988. He took over as manager of Nelson FC in the early 1990’s and continued to play for Nelson during much of that decade.

After taking over as manager of Colne FC, he won the league and cup double and reached the semi-final of the FA Vase in 2003/04. He retired in 2013 after enjoying a successful ten year spell as manager at the club.

Unfortunately his health deteriorated due to cancer and he passed away on Sunday 5th June.  He had a long association with the North West Counties Football League, and had many friends throughout the league who will be saddened by this news.

His funeral takes place at Burnley Crematorium on Friday 17th June at 12 noon.  Those attending are invited to wear bright colours and no black.
