League Propose Rule Change On FA Vase Postponements

The League Management Committee have submitted a proposal to the FA regarding the rearrangement of FA Vase ties following a postponement.

The move has been taken in the aftermath of several midweek trips that our clubs have been forced to make in the FA Vase this season.

1874 Northwich were forced to withdraw from the competition after being unable to put together a squad of players who could undertake a near 400 mile round trip in midweek to Morpeth Town, and Northwich Manchester Villa, Runcorn Linnets and Runcorn Town have all had to make midweek trips to the North East on round trips of over 300 miles

Atherton Collieries also face a similar length of journey to Newton Aycliffe for their re-arranged Third Round tie.

The League Management Committee have submitted a proposal to the FA Vase Committee that they should consider a change of Rule concerning postponed, abandoned or replayed matches thoughout the competition.

The proposed change is: “Where the distance between home and away grounds is greater than 100 miles, any such re-arranged or replayed match shall be played on the following Saturday”.

The request has also been made that this topic is fully discussed at the next Step 5-6 Focus Group meeting.

Following the submission of the request, an acknowledgement was received from the FA, and we have been informed that the topic will be on the agenda at the next meeting of the FA Vase Organising Committee, which is scheduled to take place in February.
