This coming Saturday, Nelson FC entertain their League Two rivals Accrington Stanley at Victoria Park in an eagerly awaited pre-season game.

The game is notable for the fact that it will be the first game in his managerial career for former England marksman James Beattie, who took over at the Crown Ground in the summer, and he will be bringing a full strength Stanley line-up over for the fixture.

Last minute preparations are in full swing down at the ground to get everything ready for Saturday as Chief Executive Dave Edler explained.

"There has been loads of work to get done", said Dave. "The old kitchen has been painted and renovated ready to sell curries on Saturday. The bar and new kitchen has also been refitted. The new Admiral Suite has been plastered, painted and fitted and new gates have been put at the entrance.

"On Saturday fans will have three food choices with an outside barbecue and a pie stall as well as the curries. In addition a merchandise stall will be selling replicas and programmes. For the kids there will be a bouncy castle, play area and penalty prize competition."

"Supporters will also be able to buy our new look Matchday Magazine (see photo) which has new Stanley boss Beattie on the front cover. Finally it will be the first look that supporters get to watch our new look matchday TV channel Nelson FC TV.

"At 1.45 pm and 2.20 pm both in the bar and the Admiral Suite, fans and sponsors can watch half an hour of footage from last weeks games for the first team and development squad, along with interviews with both Mark Fell and James Beattie plus loads of behind the scenes news and interviews with new sponsors.

"The doors open at 1pm and the game kicks off at 3 pm, and my message to everyone is to get down early, as there will be plenty to do and see".

Supporters can see a 'Nelson v Stanley Fact of the Day' on the club's website every day in the build up to the match, looking back at famous games between the two sides down the years.
