2026/27 Season Fixtures Released

The remaining fixtures for the 2026/27 Season have now been released by the North West Counties Football League.
As with other seasons, we have to wait for fixture releases to cascade through the National League system, and with the Northern Premier League releasing their fixtures last week, we were able to finalise our fixtures. We spent yesterday morning checking them before circulating to clubs to allow them to get their own fixtures sorted for social media.
The season finishes this season on Saturday 17th April with the Groundhop taking place once again in February.
Fixtures can be viewed on the Fixtures drop-down menu or by visiting individual clubpages.
2027 GROUNDHOP
The Annual Groundhop details will be from Friday 26th February to Sunday 28th February 2027 and once again features a good grouping of seven games across the three days.
It starts on the Friday night with Thornton Cleveleys hosting AFC Blackpool in a local First Division North derby, before travelling down to West Lancashire on the Saturday morniing to Burscough for their clash with Charnock Richard. A short hop to Maghull is next for their game with Ashton Town before heading across to visit our two Wirral based clubs. Cammell Laird 1907 is first for their game with Halewood Apollo before the day concludes with Ashville's game with AFC Knowsley.
The final fixtures on the Sunday are in the Premier Division with Prestwich Heys taking on Abbey Hey in the first game before we visit Chadderton for their game with Trafford in the second game.
DERBY GAMES
Once again the Boxing Day and Easter Monday programme see as many local derbies as possible this season, which is a great opportunity for some derby games to be watched by as many people as possible.
Across the three divisions there are 14 of the 31 ties where teams are less than ten miles apart from each other.
In the Premier Division, the closest derby sees AFC Liverpool hosting Litherland REMYCA, with the annual Blackpool groundhop between AFC Blackpool and Squires Gate also taking place in the North division, with walking distance between those two grounds. In the South division, there are two derbies with just three miles separating the clubs, with Wednesfield Community travelling to Bilston Town and Telford Town hosting Dawley Town.
THE RUN IN
Its impossible to know at this stage who is going to have successful seasons but eyes are also often drawn to the run in.
One final day clash sees Ramsbottom United host Chadderton, with both of those finishing in the top five last season. Trafford's return to the NWCFL sees them host FC St Helens on the final day.
In the North there's a Merseyside derby with Maghull hosting Woolton, both of those finishing in the Play-Off's last season, whilst New Mills hosting Sandbach United could be a cracker in the South division.
There are lots to play for, lots of permutations, plenty of drama and hopefully no snow. With a bit of luck we will get the season over the line at the proposed dates and we will be able to look back on what will hopefully be an amazing season of competitive football.
