Christmas came early for Shelley super fan Liam Centeno.

The club were keen to mark the long and loyal support of the 38-year-old, who has cerebral palsy.

So they gave him a collection of photographs marking his presence at a series of milestone matches.

“Liam has been with us all the way, from the Huddersfield District League through the West Yorkshire League to the North West Counties,” explained manager Ash Berry.

“He’s come to games home and away through thick and thin, from the time we were playing on a local recreation ground to our relocation to the Stafflex Arena, and long may that continue.

“The Christmas present is our way of saying thanks.”

Liam, whose brother Alex is a former Shelley player and now coaches within the club’s junior section, is also a keen fan of motorcycle racing and Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club.

The presentation was made after Shelley’s recent clash with AFC Blackpool, their last home game before the Boxing Day visit of Bacup Borough.

As the club’s first-ever December 26 date, it will be a historic occasion – and of course Liam plans to be there!
