Maine Road have announced the appointment of Matt Barnes as their new First Team Manager.

Matt, who is 31, is no stranger to non-league football in the North West, having spent time at Salford City, Ramsbottom United, Atherton Collieries and Nelson during his playing career.

More recently he was manager of Little Lever in the Lancashire Amateur League for around 18 months, and prior to that was in charge at Walshaw Sports in the Manchester League.  He will be bringing his own backroom staff to the club.

Maine Road Vice-Chairman Colin Broadbent said:  "There were a number of applications for the position, however Matt's enthusiasm and vision for the club made the choice very easy for the committee.

"We wish him good luck in turning Road's fortunes around".
